Surfing Highlights
Lakey Peak
The main wave in the area, Lakey Peak is an intense A-frame reef break with both left and right-hand take-offs. The left is generally longer, while the right can fire on the right swell direction. It works on all tides, with mid tide usually best, while lower tide can make the barrels hollower. Best around 4 to 8 foot faces, Lakey Peak can suit a range of surfers on smaller days, but it remains a powerful reef break and booties are recommended.
Lakey Pipe
Located close to Lakey Peak, Lakey Pipe is a serious barrel wave for surfers who thrive on hollow left-hand reef breaks. It works best on mid to high tides and can turn on when Lakey Peak is too big or out of control. On the right swell, it can deliver some of the best stand-up barrels in Indonesia. Best suited to good intermediate and experienced surfers, with booties recommended.
Periscopes
is one of the standout right-handers in the Lakey area and a great option when the swell is big enough to get it working. It generally picks up a little less swell than Lakey Peak and is best surfed on a mid to high tide. When it turns on, expect a fast, hollow reef wave with quality barrel sections. Best suited to confident surfers, with booties recommended.
Nunggas
is a long left-hander and one of the most underrated waves in the Lakey area. It can be surfed on all tides and is a fun intermediate option from around 3 to 6 foot, before becoming more serious as the swell builds. On smaller swells it can break into several separate sections, but with more size those sections can link into rides of up to 200 metres or more. Expect a mix of walls, flatter sections and barrel opportunities, with the best take-off spot changing through the day. Nunggas can hold much bigger surf, but strong currents make local guidance important when the swell gets large.
Maci Point
is located across the bay, around one hour by boat from the Lakey area. It is often a good option when Lakey is small, with boat trips sometimes arranged for guests depending on conditions. The trip can also include a bit of fishing along the way, making it a fun surfari-style day out. Maci Point is a right-hander breaking over a coral rock ledge, works best on a higher tide and can pick up plenty of swell. Boat trips to Maci Point are an extra charge and are not included in the standard packages.

Built from local timber, the Surf Shacks are spacious two-storey rooms with surf and ocean views overlooking Lakey Peak and Lakey Pipe. The rooms include a private bathroom with hot and cold water, a huge downstairs veranda and an upstairs viewpoint that is perfect for daily surf checks. Ocean View Surf Suites
The Ocean View Surf Suites are newly built and positioned for panoramic 180-degree views over Lakey Peak, Lakey Pipe and the surrounding mountains.
