Exposed reef break that has consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Offshore winds blow from the east northeast. Groundswells more frequent than windswells and the best swell direction is from the southwest. A choice of left and right reefs. Likely to be crowded if working. Watch out for coral, rocks, crowds.
Unawatuna
Unawatuna Bay or Wella Devalaya is 5kms from Galle towards Midigama. It is a powerful righthand reef break for experienced surfers. User friendly beach breaks are found closer in the bay.

Surfing
Surfing has gained popularity in the southern-most reaches of Sri Lanka, a country well loved for it’s beautiful culture, it’s exciting foods and warm-hearted people. You can expect waves between two to six foot, and a breaking wave at almost any time of the year at Hikkaduwa’s A-Frames, a known swell-magnet. The wave is fun on the high-tide but has the potential to produce some epic barrels on its day. During the rainy season (April through October) bigger swells tend to batter the coast, but the onshore and dirty water will make for a slightly less pleasant experience in the water.
