Playa Mojon

The powerful and punchy right point break at Playa el Mojon is a short walking distance from the house. While it offers good turn sections, it’s prime for barrels. You’d be hard pressed to find a sand-bottomed barreling wave like this anywhere else in the world.

Outside Mojon

has a second inside and outside section and is strictly for locals / surfers with local guides. Slabby sand-bottom wave ~20 minute walk from the house.

Barra de la Cruz

The most well-known wave in the area, Barra de la Cruz is a “perfect” right-hand point break with a barreling section up top that gives way to walls perfect for big turns all the way into the bay

The region between Huatulco and Salina Cruz is home to numerous world class point breaks that are easy to score under a variety of conditions. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, the area has plenty of options for you. Approximately a dozen point breaks and rock croppings to suit all levels of surfing abilities.

Huatulco

The area surrounding the town of Bahias de Huatulco is chock full of world class surf with Salina Cruz still within striking distance. From the local beach breaks to neighboring point breaks such as Barra de la Cruz, this area is the ultimate in wave-rich coastline.

With 5 private rooms, Hacienda Mojon offers a tailored and intimate surf experience. It has a full-service kitchen, communal enclosed dining and lounge area, pool, and WIFI. The hacienda was designed to host the avid surfer, small groups, and families looking for the perfect retreat.

Fit for one, but spacious enough for two, each room has a king size bed, private bathroom, and is furnished with the work of local Oaxacan artisans. They are proud to be an eco-friendly example of off-grid living. The hacienda is solar-powered and the water is sourced from a well on the property.

Capacity

Surfing

The start and end of the season (March / April and September / October respectively) typically generate smaller ground swells ideal for beginner to intermediate surfers. The peak of the surf season, May - August consistently bring strong Pacific ground swells and the resultant powerful waves for our more skillful and experienced surfers. Typically, the waves range from long, mushy and mellow, to fast, hollow and full barrels. Swells can range between 2’-4’ and 6’-8’+. With favorable summer rains, the sand shapes the sea floor, resulting in a perfectly shaped wave. Due to geographic variations, there are options to ride smaller or larger waves during a given swell. For example, if the top spots are 8’+, there are other spots that would be in a 4’-6’ range, allowing you the flexibility to cater to various levels of surfing ability.

Hacienda Mojon

This sustainable off-grid hacienda, a mix of local architecture and modern design, is designed to accommodate the eager surfer and families looking for a peaceful and relaxing retreat. Fit for one, but spacious enough for two, each of the four rooms has ocean views, air conditioning, wireless internet, private bathroom, a king size bed and is furnished with the work of local Oaxacan artisans. The hacienda can accommodate up to eight guests and has a full-service kitchen, communal enclosed dining and lounge area, terraces with ocean views, and a pool. You will get 3 meals per day prepared with fresh, healthy, high-quality ingredients. They'll be happy to tailor each meal to any specific needs/preferences. Drinks and snacks are also included.
