12 nights at Aura - everything was perfect
We had quality waves everyday. Great peak straight out the front of your villa and plenty of other reef breaks, beachies and points a short trip from the resort. The food was excellent. The villas were way beyond expectations and the rest of the resort and pool was really well done. Jimmy made sure we were surfing the right spot for the conditions everyday, the photographer Charlie is an absolute pro and the rest of the team were super friendly and helpful. The resort was great for helping organize our surfboards, transport and flights from Medan. Villas spotlessly cleaned each day. WIFI was good. Absolutely everything was just right. Big thanks to the team there for making it an awesome trip. If your looking for your next trip this is it.

Great location right on the beach
overlooking a play full a frame. Just a short walking distance to the right or to the left you will find beach breaks which can get really good at the right time. Two thumbs up for food and guiding! I will be back!

Rather than curating a course that promotes overall fitness, Dean believes training for surfers needs to be specific and focused on what they need most. To achieve this, he targets four key areas.
Mobility
Increase mobility in the joints surfers rely on most, particularly the ankles, hips and shoulders.
Upper Body Endurance
If you want to surf several times a day, you will be paddling many kilometres. Your shoulders need the endurance to handle session after session.
Lower Body Strength
Upper body strength gets us into waves, but lower body strength helps us perform once we are on them. Strong legs allow you to surf with greater power for longer.
Core Strength
On an intense surf trip, a strong and active core helps reduce the likelihood of injury. No one wants to be sidelined during a surf trip.

The Peak
The Peak is a fun perfect left and right which has both hollow barrel sections and nice walls. An easy paddle out from the beach and a flat reef makes it fun for all.
Dylan’s Right
Dylan’s Right is a hollow fast prefect right barrel which breaks over shallow reef on the inside of a large south west facing bay. Breaks best in larger swells, but produces consistent fun, fast waves.
T-Bags
This wave will have you frothing pretty quickly. The access to this mesmerizing right hander is pretty easy but requires a boat.

Dylan Longbottom
Dylan Longbottom is one of the most highly regarded surfer shapers on the planet. A former pro competitor and Billabong team rider, Dylan is even more famous for his big wave bravado and his insane free surfing. Dylan’s going to bring a bunch of surfboards for you to test out on this trip, surfboards that you’ll discover after test riding them, are shaped uniquely through the prism of Dylan’s personal experience of tube riding, busting airs and carving on rail in all types of waves globally. Much fodder for post surf conversations on this unique and exclusive surf experience in Sumatra.
Summa Longbottom
Summa Longbottom was a very successful competitive surfer in her junior career, but like dad found she prefers free surfing and charging serious waves. Summa is the youngest female surfer to surf Nazare, Cape Solander, Shipsterns Bluff, Cony’s and Lunas. Like dad, Summa is now pursuing a shaping career, specialising in shaping surfboards for female surfers…so cool.
Dean Jamieson
The training on his surf trips isn’t your stereotypical ‘in the gym’ style of working out. Instead, you will focus on managing the body, concentrating on key areas to keep the crew limber and ready to rip every day. You will concentrate on soft tissue work and foam rolling to relieve tight muscles like the upper back and shoulders which inevitably become sore from excessive paddling, also the hips and lower back to keep the pop up smooth and as effective as possible. Lastly, you will do plenty of activation work such as stretching and various movements. Surf trips are hard on the body so the goal is to ensure everyone is moving optimally.
The Resort
Aura Surf Resort is situated on the beach close to a very quiet and tiny village. The island of Simeulue has amazing mountains, with waterfalls, rain-forest, rivers, abundant wildlife, beaches, islands, 4wd tracks, fishing and snorkeling. Set amongst 15,000 sqm of beachfront parkland with an epic Peak break right out front & mountainous jungle as your backdrop - your daily surfs couldn’t get any easier. Aside from serving up delicious buffet meals, the restaurant is the perfect place to relax.
