Indian Ocean Swell Alert
The Indian Ocean is calling with world-class surf forecast across Indonesia and the Maldives.
The Indian Ocean Is Calling!
The charts are lining up and the Indian Ocean is delivering.
A run of long-period swells is set to pulse through Indonesia and the Maldives, bringing consistent surf, favourable winds and some of the best conditions we’ve seen this season.

Maldives Outlook
Although May has been unseasonably quiet for surf, the pattern is changing for the better in June with multiple pulses from the SSE to ESE over next few weeks.
The Maldives is shaping up to be a strong option for surfers heading to the Indian Ocean this season (June–October). With an El Niño-leaning pattern influencing the region, the Indian Ocean trade wind system is expected to become more organised, generating steady mid-period swell heading westward into the atolls.
Rather than raw power, the Maldives delivers on consistency. Pulsing long-lived ESE trade swells and more reliable wind patterns combine to create a user-friendly surf environment with relatively low variability.
For those seeking dependable, surfable waves in a stable setting, the Maldives looks well-placed to deliver this season.
Kandooma Maldives
Perfect for surfers wanting quality waves, luxury accommodation and easy access from Australia.
Consistent reef breaks, warm water and a relaxed island atmosphere make Kandooma one of the Maldives’ most popular surf resorts.

Western Indonesia Outlook
Including the Mentawais and Sumatra looks set for an encouraging season.
Conditions have been mint for the early season with light and variable winds and notable pulses of SSW groundswell.
With the current El Niño-leaning pattern, the atmosphere is expected to stabilise sooner than usual, bringing cleaner, more consistent surf as the season progresses.
A broader swell window across the Indian Ocean means the region is likely to receive energy from multiple systems rather than depending on isolated events.
On balance, expect improved conditions overall. Cleaner, consistent mid-range surf and reduced tropical interference, though perhaps fewer large swell events compared to a typical season.
Aura Surf Resort
With The Peak breaking directly out front and a lineup of world-class waves only minutes away, Aura delivers the kind of surf trip guests return for year after year.
Whether you’re chasing barrels, long playful walls, or simply a tropical escape with zero stress.
Puri Asu Resort
Perfect waves out front are only a three minute walk away.
For other spots, Puri Asu’s boats will get you quickly to the waves, helping you avoid long paddles and reef walks, with transfers arranged around conditions and the surf program.
Eastern Indonesia Outlook
Covering Bali, Lombok and Sumbawa, looks set to deliver one of the more reliable surf seasons in the Indian Ocean this year.
The combination of El Niño and a positive IOD contributes to consistent E–SE trade winds aligning well with the region’s premier breaks and delivering classic dry-season conditions with minimal day-to-day variability.
Swell from the Southern Ocean should remain steady throughout, and while absolute size may be slightly below the peaks seen in more active years, long-period SW swell still refracts efficiently into the region.
June is already looking like delivering an above-average run of solid SSW swell.
Overall, this is shaping up to be the kind of season that stands out not for its size, but for its consistency, quality and predictability.
Sumba
With its small population, dry tropical climate and traditional rural villages, Sumba feels very different from other surfing destinations in Indonesia.
The roads are infrequently used, and there are very few accommodation options.
This means uncrowded waves.

Here you will find a world-class set of waves to enjoy with friends and family.
This resort is named after the T-Land wave, located in the small village of Nembrala.
