When travelling to PNG on a surf trip, you should apply for your e-visa only when you have your travel documents ready.

This will usually be in a month before travel.

Do not leave it until the last minute as if you don’t have eVisa ready, you will be denied boarding on your international flight to PNG.

There is no Visa on Arrival – it must be done before travel.

The process begins here: https://evisa.ica.gov.pg/evisa/account/Apply

You will know when you have done it right, as it’s an instant process – if your e-visa doesn’t come through immediately, you have done something wrong and you will have to start again

Attached is a guide how to do it – follow it carefully.

Tips:
  • Takes 15 minutes or more – give yourself time. Best on a PC, don’t do it on your phone.
  • Follow links in this PDF only. Do not Google “PNG eVisa” – this will take you to non-government sites that charge you $ for a service you don’t need.
  • Very careful that you select Visitor at the start, if you stay on default ‘business’ visa, it will take down an expensive, difficult and unnecessary path.
  • Follow the instructions – you may not need to complete coronavirus declarations anymore.
  • If it asks for “evidence of funds’ – just write a note and save it. You can say “May travel arrangements in PNG are already prepaid. I have sufficient funds in cash and credit cards for any extra costs”. No need to sign – it just wants to see you have uploaded something.
  • When it asks for the address of your destinations in PNG, you can just complete basic info:

Number and Street: Resort or Boat Name
Town: eg: Kavieng or Vanimo
Provence: New Ireland (Rubio, Nusa Island or PNG Explorer) or Western Provence (Vanimo)
