Summary
Six Senses Laamu is the only resort on the virtually uncharted Laamu atoll, deep in the Indian Ocean. The island has such outstanding natural beauty, powder white sand, lush tropical vegetation and crystal clear waters. But best of all you have Ying Yangs surfbreak straight accross the channel so you can surf to hearts content without any long transfers. Ying Yang is the most consistent spot in the area and loves a solid southeast swell. It has a long inside section and can produces some incredibly hollow barrels. Outside is a mellow wall with safe rides in deep water. Other great fun surf spots are at Maabaidhoo Kandu (left-hander and right-hander), Fushi Kandu (right-hander), Hithadhoo Corner, Gadhoo Kandu and along the Fonadhoo Outreef.

Surfing

Generally, the Maldives are exposed to the same swell as Indonesia with surf season being from April to October, peaking in June to September period, the time of South-West monsoon. The Laamu Atoll and Huvadhu Atoll are separate by the One and a Half Degree Channel. As there is not much land mass to the south of these Atolls, swells generated by the Roaring Forties (a weather phenomena created in the far south of the Indian Ocean) hit the islands of these Atolls, creating the best waves in the country.

Spots in the Laamu Atoll are spread from the South-facing coastline along the east-facing up to the northeast corner where waves wrap around. As a result you will find spots protected from all wind directions except a rare straight easterly breeze.

They offer boat trips to the famous Yin Yangsurf break which is just minutes away as well as the other nearby fun surf spots around Laamu Atoll – surfing lessons both board and kite are offered.

Mike (August 2018)

Six Senses Laamu was a such a stellar resort and the dream location for our honeymoon. The bookings and confirmations went very smooth and they offered everything as advertised starting with exceptional service and facilities; in fact, we really appreciated that we were greeted upon arrival by name with our GEM and surf guides recognizing us by face and already having insight into some of the activities and accommodation we maybe interested in (surfing, snorkeling, yoga). The huts over the water were amazing and better than we could have hoped for and the staff took excellent care to make us comfortable and relaxed! Would recommend to anyone!

Abby & Will (October 2018)

We are here in the Maldives and it is seriously INCREDIBLE!! Thank you soo much - we love it!! Thanks again for everything you did with helping us book this trip! We've never come across a travel agent who goes to some much effort to really make the experience unforgettable with lots of details.

Karen & David Cunningham (June, 2017),

Just want to thank you so very much for the Six Senses recommendation. We loved every moment, it was all perfect!

Yes I got some waves at the Jetty C, and made it out on the boat to Yin Yangs on one day which was pretty epic.
Thanks for your help with organizing!

Patricia (November 2016)
We had 7 days at Six Senses Laamu in September and there is one word that comes to mind when recalling our holiday and that is "paradise". Six Senses is a beautiful resort on a beautiful island. The things I enjoyed about our holiday - the beautiful over water villa with outdoor shower,, the incredible aqua of the water, the bicycle riding from our villa to the main area, the outdoor cinema, the super friendly staff including our GEM Georgie. I really can't wait to get back

Trish and Greg (September 2016)
I was going through some old emails and realized I hadn’t got back to you  regarding our trip so my apologies for that.  So my thoughts on our holiday – it  was just fantastic.  We loved Six Senses as you said we would and will go back there for sure. My thoughts on different parts -

The island – a beautiful island and  a great size. Prior to going, I thought I would feel a bit contained but didn’t at all.
Bicycles - I loved the bicycle riding to the point where I think if we had stayed at Jetty A we would have missed out on a special part of our holiday.
The villa – Just beautiful – particularly liked the outdoor lounging areas and the outdoor shower.
Meals – Great meals with Leaf and the breakfasts being my favourites.  We had the Asian buffet and seafood buffet which were good but I didn’t enjoy as much as other meals. (not a buffet person).
Our Gem – Georgie was fantastic with just the right amount of contact. He even went that step further when I enquired about the museli, I was given a beautifully presented typed recipe.
The Staff – all super friendly
Excursion – we did the snorkelling excursion which was really good.
Outdoor Cinema – just great – we saw 3 movies.

All in all a fantastic holiday.  Thank you very much for organizing.

Scott (October 2016)
We booked an extensive holiday with the Perfect wave over a number of destinations. The coordination of flights, accommodation and transport was all done with amazing efficiency! The recommendations for accommodation were 10/10 and we were beyond impressed at some of the locations, in particular the Maldives Six Senses! Sylvia pushed us in the right direction based on what we said our needs were and we had the most amazing honeymoon as a result! Thank you so much, we couldn't have done it without you!

Joss & Adam (October 2016)
We had a wonderful honeymoon thanks! Six Senses was perfect. The room was amazing, the resort was relaxing (sometimes it was so quiet it felt like we were the only ones there!), staff couldn't do enough for us and we really enjoyed all the activities (snorkelling around the resort was almost as good as the scuba diving that we did). Adam had a few days surfing at various breaks- some days were a bit windy and not very good conditions, but I think on the last few days he had some good surfs (he can tell you all about that!) We also really enjoyed the airport service- staff took us to the lounge, checked us into our flights etc... Really great.

Adam & Joss (September 2016)
Joss has just recieved the info pack and your lovely gift!! it had put a smile on our whole day!!

We are Soo excited about our adventure ahead and you have been Soo helpful! Thank you Soo much!! 😃😃

Paul (June 2015)
We had a pretty much perfect holiday. Six Senses is undoubtedly the best resort we have stayed at. I couldn’t fault a thing. Food ,service, the appointment of the rooms, attention to detail amazing. Weather fantastic. Surf didn’t quite happen but had a couple of good if short (due to wind or tide) sessions. Transfer of board went without a hitch. I have been singing your and the resort’s praises far and wide. Many thanks for your perfect service.

Mel & Nick (July 2015)
We had such a fantastic trip - we really couldn't have asked for more and it was one of the best holidays we've ever had.  The Fullerton was fantastic and we had a really good time sightseeing in Singapore, then Laamu was absolutely amazing.  It is such a beautiful resort and we can truly say that everything about our stay there was faultless.  Beautiful accommodations, great food, lovely weather and the team at the surf centre went out of their way to make sure that we got great waves in spite of it being quite windy for some of the trip and at times less than ideal conditions.  Mostly we surfed the wave called "Petrol Island" just across the channel from the resort which was a really fun wave and suited us both well with me at a more advanced beginner level and Nick as an intermediate surfer.  Nick surfed Ying Yang a few times, and we also did a trip to Machines where Nick surfed but I just stayed on the boat as it looked a bit tricky for me.  I also had a couple of fun surfs on "The Shoulder" on days when Nick wanted to go out to Ying Yang and that was a fun little wave too.
We had such a fabulous time and it was exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon with a perfect mix of romance and surfing, and that's not even to mention all the other fabulous activities and the amazing food (and ice cream!) that we had!

Debi (May 2015)
Sylvia helped us pick the perfect spot for our 20th wedding anniversary. Everything was flawless and fabulous!

Gary (April 2015)
The Six Senses resort, Maldives was an idyllic destination. Beautiful setting, good food, plenty to do including at hand surf spots. My wife and I had the best time. If you like a wine or two, pack some extra $, as alcohol is expensive.

Sandie (April 2015)
I have been singing your praises as a booking agent since we first started the booking cycle. From the first qualifying conversation down the week of departure I just can't fault your service. The warmth you showed us as holiday makers and understanding of our destination has been fantastic. We were not surprised to be on a small boat to a remote atolI in the Maldives with 2 other couples who had booked through you. Of course... Who else would they have used.
Since discovering The Perfect Wave I have dropped Platinum American Express Travel as an agent and told their management they weren't a patch on your company.
We've already had our neighbours sing out from their washing line for your details.
Well done Perfect Wave,
You should be very proud of Charlie and Sylv. They are excellent ambassadors of your brand.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. We'll be back!!

Ben (April 2015)
Our trip was fantastic. Six Sense was the most incredible resort we have ever been too. The water was 30 degrees every day, crystal clear and so good for snorkelling. The surf was small but really fun. Had it to myself most days.

Accommodation was great and they upgraded us to a villa that faced the surf breaks. Food was amazing and they allow you to use half board at any of there 4 restaurants (not just longitude) so we got the opportunity to try the variety they had to offer. We are very glad we chose to shorten our trip and go to six sense. Perfect place for a honeymoon, don’t think we could afford to go back there though 🙂 Was so easy booking through perfect wave, and ill definitely use you guys again in the future. You got prices lower that I tried to get myself haha.. Thanks again Bruno. We’ll be saving up for our next ‘perfect wave’ trip!!!

Andrew & Leah (April 2015)
We truly had the most amazing time!! We were blown away with the beautiful surroundings of the resort & the hospitality at the Six Senses was impeccable! Also have to mention how great the food was!!
When we plan for our next holiday we will definitely be booking through the Perfect Wave you just made it all so simple for us we couldn't be more thankful!
Hope you enjoy the pics 🙂

Kind regards,
Leah

Holly (March 2015)
The perfect wave was amazing to go through very easy to contact and ask questions about definitely reccomend them to others made the holiday a lot easier and a lot less stressful.

Chad (September 2014)
You guys hit the nine on the head when I contacted you wanting a honeymoon location that would impress the wife and allow me to get in some surfing. Six senses Maldives is truely an amazing place. This place is the definition of Paradise! We were both blown away by this place and the way they looked after us. It was the ideal place to spend our honeymoon and has left memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you!

Andy (July 2014)

Hey Sylv, Sorry it took so long to get in touch with you, it's been hectic since we got back. Six Senses was so amazing in every way. We absolutely loved it. It was perfect. Scored fun waves too - Yin Yang shot attached. Thanks again for all of your help. Take it easy,Andy

Scott (July 2014)

Hi Suzi Hope you are well. Thanks so much again for all your help with the Six Senses – we ended up having an amazing time one of the best trips ever. It is very comforting to know that you are available to help us out whenever we need it on the road, and we are extremely grateful for it. The surf was epic – too big for me to surf Yin Yang the whole time I was there: there was too much water moving around on the outside, and the inside was WAY overhead and pretty much as heavy as I have ever seen any wave – I was hilariously undergunned on my 5’10” and just couldn’t get into the wave. After a couple of arguments with the reef I decided to surf Petrol Island every day and it was awesome – I have plenty of pictures I could share if you were interested. Kirstin got some shots of the Jungle Cinema but it is not very photogenic – in the day they cover it all up, and at night it is difficult to get a good shot. Again we can share if you are interested. Of course my thoughts now turn to the next trip (always!), and I was wondering if you had any thoughts for the October boys’ jaunt: the likely dates are 12-16 October. Hossegor has been mentioned by my Aussie friend as somewhere he would like to go, but we are open to other ideas. Anything you can suggest would be great. We are still mulling over our November trip and will get back to you on that one asap. Best Scott

Ange and Matt (July 2014)

Oh Sylv! It exceeded expectations and considering the reputation of the Maldives we'd set our expectations high. On arrival at the terminals we were met by a warm and friendly guy who helped us check onto our domestic flight. It was 10.30pm local time so 3.30am stdney time so we were pleased that the 6 senses staff handled everything for us... bags, check-in and hot tea. Airport lounge was hysterical but welcomed. After a quick flight we jumped onto a pretty swanky speed boat, were offered a quick and delicious drink and ploughed thru enormous swell to the island in the dead of night! The staff gave us reassuring smiles every now and then, that was our intro to the warm and laid-back locals. On arriving at six senses there were about 10 staff, all smiles at 12am. They didn't bother with any intros just drove us straight to our villa and showed us the beautiful BED! In the morning we woke in a dreamland!!!!! The villa was a luxurious beach hut. The soft grey of the untreated timber so harmonious with the aqua! THE AQUA! I could never tire of it and will never forget it. I miss our villa. The simplicity and rawness. The water was everywhere and so therapeutic. The sound smell and feel of it. Aaaaaaah!!! We ventured out and found our bikes labelled #79 at the front door and rode down the jetty and around the island to get our bearings and our first taste of their food. We went for our complimentary brekkie which we found ourselves waking earlier and earlier every morning to get to. Small, beautifully balanced meals in abundance !! I just got a little bit of everything each morning and felt fantastic . We were met by our GEM - guest experience manager, who was always available but not intrusive. I think she picked up on our vibe of wanting to be left alone and that we weren't interested in super sizing or opting in to many additional extras. She balanced it perfectly. The rest of the food on the island was AAAAAAMAZING. So much variety and all so fresh and delicate. I loved everything I had. One criticism is that I could not stop getting the same Vietnamese soup for lunch. Couldn't get it out of my head. Japanese dinner, sensational. Best my husbands ever had and he's been for a lot of Japanese. Seafood buffet had so much variety and all fresh and delightful. The whole resort, the food, people, facilities, wildlife, environment was natural and mind-blowing. Loved getting around on our bikes, loved that a fair proportion of what was served or offered to us was either grown on the island or locally sourced. We felt so healthy bc alcohol was fairly expensive so we had less cocktails and wine than previous holidays and replaced it with the juice of the day, herbal teas and a bucket load of the free ice cream. Employees met Matt after work for a surf to show him the breaks and his day surfs with the water sports guys were awesome. The day spa was really expensive but a crazy secluded retreat I wasn't expecting. So beautifully designed. Our scuba dive was a bit of a disaster bc Matt couldn't equalise his ears but we still managed to see 6 turtles just on the 'home' reef. Just beautiful. We attempted to snorkel from our villa around to the bar for a cocktail but I got too scared of imaginary sharks but the cocktail sunsets at the bar on nets hanging out over the water incredible. Our room service AMAZING! Our turn downs adorable, rose petal artwork one night. Loved it all. Thanks so much for your help with everything. I'm so glad pleased with the way u guided us thru this and accommodated our indecisiveness and got us on a magical holiday we'll never forget.

Ashley (June 2014)

My rep Sylvia answered all our questions, provided heaps of information, great prices and awesome service for our trip to Six Senses Laamu, Maldives. It was the most amazing destination i've ever visited. Fun waves, epic diving and zero crowds. I highly recommend The Perfect Wave.

Elizabeth (June 2014)

WOW, my husband and I have just returned from the most epic 8 days at Six Senses Laamu, Maldives. This is the perfect island to satisfy surfers and luxury romance seeking partners! This place is absolute heaven and we were constantly having "pinch yourself" moments in our overwater villa. Great surfing, incredible restaurants, good snorkelling, we can't recommend it enough. Thanks Perfect Wave for organising the most wonderful holiday that we'll remember forever!

Tatum (May 2014)
