Surf & Other Activities

This property is located near Punta Miramar. This beautiful left hander breaks over a rocky reef bottom but still has a deep takeoff. The wave can be heavy with some nice barrel sections that flow into a softer section before it hits the inside and throws again.  Provides long rides on the better days. Works normally on high tide and on low tide during big swells. Also known as "la Jamaicana" or "Miramar". Holds any size swell.

This property is also located near Pipes. A-Frame Beach Break with a flat reef on the lefts. This wave has long lefts and rights and will barrel on most swells and works well on all tides.

The camp is also located near Puerto Sandino. This is the most popular spot in the area. An offshore break with boat access only. A very long left over a sand bar with rocks on the inside. This wave can be very fast and hollow at times and provide long rides. Also know as "freight trains" or "La Barra" works on low tide and the boats leave in front of Miramar Surf Camp.

Rachel,

I think I can speak for both of us when I say it was an absolutely amazing trip!!!
Miramar was an absolute dream & I ended up surfing a 6'4" so I need to buy a new shortboard now!
Everything was so awesome. I definitely plan on booking many more holidays there & to new surf spots. Now, I just need to save up some money & vacation time so I can do it all again.
Thank you again for all of your help. I'll definitely be in touch in the future! I hope your week is going well & that the weather there is good.

Best,

Beth

Nicaragua was an AMAZING camp and had a great time there too. Nothing but good things to say about both. I had one hell of an injury but it was on penultimate day, so not much surfing missed, so no stress 🙂

Joe (October 2015)
Oh it was so good! I got pretty much 16 days of solid surfing (often two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon), and all the lessons I had were one-on-one so I think I improved quite a bit! The beaches were insane. It worked quite well having just over a week gap in the middle to explore (I ended up going to Tamarindo and San Juan del Sur before heading to Leon).

Thank you so much for all your help designing the trip. It was quite the adventure and organizing/booking it all could not have been smoother.

Miramar surf camp was by far the best place we stayed in Nicaragua. Was there in April 2014 and had great weather. Perfect location right on the beach for surfing and chilling out. The people there are amazing there and are always there to help. Lots of boards to choose for hire and they repair boards too. Rooms and bathrooms were always kept clean. Would go back there any day!

Miramar Surf Camp is THE BEST! The owners, Rafael, Tee and Leandro welcome you with a warmth, peace and humor only people taught by the ocean understand. The smiles are contagious but this is a serious surfers paradise, many pros frequent these breaks. The sets are never ending, rise high, break left and the off-shore wind is beastly. The waves are not for the faint or weak, but the home that Miramar Surf Camp provides after your battle at sea is more than you could have expected. The food is abundant and amazing; fresh fish, grilled meat, rice, beans, ripe fruits and vegetables. The surfers who come to this camp bring positive energy and conversation, so every meal feels like a family gathering. There was epic storytelling, late night talks and some killer art by Gordo. Combined with hammocks, rockers, comfy beds, and panoramic views from every angle of the camp, this is simply everything one needs so the ONLY thing you have to think about is SURFING! As a solo female traveller I felt super safe and comfortable. I came alone to learn to surf and definitely did. Thiago, the surf coach and instructor schooled us, literally. We started off in the training area daily, doing many exercises that were not easy. I’ve been to camps in Australia, Cali and NY and this is the best learning ever. I stood up every time, rode about 3 waves every session as did the other students. The pool is perfect to reset your tired muscles after a session. There is a stretching class, complete with training exercises and yoga before dinner every night.

I have gone to other surf camps in past and this is by far the best run and most incredible place I have been. Really hate to say too much since I want to keep this secret to myself. Surf, food and the people will linger in my mind till I can go back and visit. My only regret is not staying longer.
