Well, I don’t know about you, but we here at Perfect Wave Travel were very happy to see the back of 2020 and the chaos created by the pandemic around the world. What an unprecedented, challenging, crazy year – so a big welcome to 2021.

We hope that you avoided the worst effects – but if you were doing it tough, we are with you putting the year behind us and moving on with hope and optimism. Although we are also optimistic, we are under no illusions that 2021 will be jam-packed full of twists and turns. We are ready and well-positioned to handle whatever the future holds.

One cause for celebration in January each year is our company’s birthday and we are very proud to say that we celebrated our 14th year in the business of creating “trips of a lifetime”. To celebrate we are super excited to launch our new logo to kick off the year, hope you like it.

New year, new look but our team of legends are still here to continue to serve our thousands of clients all over the world. So if you need anything at all please get in touch with any one of our multiple offices around the world.

Perfect Wave Global team

In times of challenge, I always find it best to focus on things I can appreciate. Although we have been restricted from traveling to connect with friends and family across the world, we have had the opportunity to appreciate and spend time with the people near to us, especially family. But we cannot wait to get out into the world again and build those connections in person and amongst the destinations that make this planet so wonderful.

Being based here in Australia we have been extremely lucky to have had more normality than so many other countries. The Maldives is also a leader in dealing with the challenge. They have built a system to operate with some normality and as a successful tourism destination during a pandemic. How? By testing diligently and providing quarantine areas at each and every resort that is operating. The Maldives is now considered the #1 safest tourist destination in the world! If you didn’t know, the Maldives reopened to tourism in July last year and numbers have been increasing every month with a robust and safe system to protect its people and the tourists that can travel to the destination.

Our wonderful partner property Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma, which is managed by IHG has been a trailblazer in creating a safe and professional program to ensure they have world class standards in managing arrivals from all over the world. They re-opened in September 2020 and we welcomed our first surfers who enjoyed uncrowded perfection for the remainder of the surf season. Since then normal tourism has been building at the resort and they are now operating at high occupancy and are excited and ready for the 2021 surf season starting 1 April. For those countries that are able to travel from April onwards, we are looking forward to welcoming you back to Kandooma. Our wonderful Perfect Wave hosts Steve and Courtney will be back there to serve you again. There are still great early bird deals on offer to secure your spot in the exclusive limited numbers surf program and enjoy the amazing waves of Kandooma Right on your doorstep.

We also look forward to finally holding our postponed Music in Paradise events at Kandooma with Xavier Rudd, Daryl Braithwaite, Richard Clapton, Sunnyboys and Jimmy Barnes all rescheduled to later in 2021 to give us the best chance to hold these events. Other fantastic news in regard to our Music in Paradise program is that we finally released an Australian domestic event with Jimmy Barnes in the Whitsundays and it sold out in 3 days. So we can’t wait to get up to Queensland in June for this event as well. We have a few more potential Australian events in the planning so stay tuned for more news on this in the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, with Australian travel restrictions still in place during the first part of 2021, we have already been forced to move many bookings and some events to later this year or even 2022. However it is important that for all our travellers with trips postponed again, we empathise with you totally. Please know we are still here almost a year after global travel stopped and we are still working for all our clients to ensure their trips, money and time are protected. We will continue to work for you as long as this takes! We thank you unequivocally for your patience and trust.

Lastly, I would like to say a massive thank you to all our team members across the globe. They have stood up to the greatest challenges and put our client’s needs above their own. We couldn’t do it without them and for that I say a massive thank you!
