The surf season in the southwest of Sri Lanka starts kicking into gear in November and serves up fun waves for all levels until the end of April. Both LEVELS and AQUA offers great views of the waves, boards to rent and surf instructors for those just learning to surf. The local guides will be happy to take guests to nearby spots in Galle and Weligama, or further south to Ahangama, Midigama and Mirissa to sample some of the best breaks in Sri Lanka like Lazy Left, Plantation Point, Coconut Point and Midigama Right.
When you’re not in the surf or lounging around the pool, there are plenty of other entertaining activities. For a bit of culture visit the Galle Fort, the National Museum, Maritime Museum and Japanese Peace Pagoda. Both of the hip, boutique Cantaloupe Hotels are located close to the city of Galle with its historic fort and fortified old town built in the 16th century by the Portuguese.

There are three types of rooms at Cantaloupe LEVELS, each more satisfying than the next with all the modern comforts you’d expect, including air-conditioning, king-sized beds, Jacuzzi tubs-for-two and extra-large flat screen TVs. The Superior Silhouettes on the ground and second floors are the most intimate, but extremely chic and comfortable.
There are five Deluxe Silhouette suites spread out over the three floors of the hotel, in a similar style to the Superior rooms, but with more area for après-surf lounging and more stunning ocean views.

From Unawatuna Beach you drive south along Sri Lanka’s scenic coastline until you reach Talpe, a sleepy village with a charming aesthetic of secluded, coconut tree lined beaches, which make a magnificent setting for sunbathing and enjoying the breath-taking sunsets.
