Exclusive Interview With Donavon Frankenreiter
Perfect Wave and internationally acclaimed surfer and musician Donavon Frankenreiter are presenting two exclusive, intimate gigs at Kandooma Resort, The Maldives from June 1 – 11, 2014.
One gig will be held in the ideal setting of Kandooma’s Sunset Bar, the second gig will be on a private, deserted island complete with BBQ dinner.
Donavon will be available to personally sign his CDs and pose for a professional photo after the show as a memento of this unique one off event. Additionally, each guest will have the chance to win a seaplane adventure and private surf session with Donavon at a remote surf break.
Perfect Wave’s Ben Horvath caught up with Donavon last week to discuss the upcoming shows and ask Don some light hearted questions.
Ben – What have you been up to of late both music and surf-wise?
Donavon – Writing and playing shows, touring and surfing as much with my family and friends – the two things I love more than anything.
Ben – I know you have been lucky enough to surf so many exotic locales as a result of your successful dual career. Have you been to The Maldives before?
Donavon – Never been, and I can’t wait. It will be the ultimate family surf trip. I heard nothing but amazing stuff about it!!!!!
Ben – What have you got planned gig wise at Kandooma? What can crew who have booked and anyone that snaps up the few remaining spots look forward too?
Donavon – It will be just me playing acoustic, so if anyone shows up with an instrument there in the band – it will be a jam!!
Ben – I know you are a champion of environmental causes. Are rising sea levels at the forefront of residents consciousness in Kuai, and is their any progress regarding the US administrations carbon pollution reduction schemes?
Donavon – I have not heard much about the rising sea levels recently. It is just something that I have geard about periodically over the last 10 years.
Ben – Do you think surfers in general are environmentally aware as a sub set, or do you think surfers are becoming more and more like Jocks?
Donavon – I think everybody is aware of the earth’s situation. You don’t have to be a surfer to understand how much the ocean gives life on this earth.
