Mentawai April Swell Wrap: Aloita Surf Resort Report.

The early season at Aloita Mentawai Surf Resort produced so many fun, medium-sized swells with the odd peppering of larger days. The winds were typical for this time of the year, predominantly light and variable.
We have surfed a lot of the time on our own.
There’s been a fair few user-friendly days at Telescopes, 7 Palms and Scarecrows, with a few solid Icelands bombs. Even Suicides has produced some rippable conditions on occasion.
The best early swell we had was on April 4 when a chunky south swell hit.
Scarecrows was the pick; we were happy to surf it glassy 4-5ft and uncrowded. The clean conditions persisted through the morning and our crew surfed themselves silly until we had to pull the pin and send the Mermaids onto their next adventure.
So far, the waves have been noticeably more consistent than last year and signs are promising for a memorable season out here at Aloita Surf Resort & Spa.
