Following a 16th consecutive year of success, including two years prior running in a global video format, BL’s Blast-Off makes its physical return, based at Hidden Valley by S-Resorts on the gorgeous Bukit Peninsula. Surfers will have themselves lined up for 7 days of stoke, amongst the perfect, long and hollow lineups.

For grommets aged 8-16, this is an opportunity dive into the world of competitive surfing, in a friendly and encouraging environment, with daily coaching and advice from Barton Lynch and the expert panel of judges.

Running April 3rd to April 10th 2022, BL BALI BLAST OFF promises to be a family holiday and surfing experience, matched by no other. Every participant surfs at least twice before anyone is eliminated, with initial heats not being scored. Instead surfers are placed 1st to 6th based on their overall performance, then provided coaching and feedback to help them improve before the next round.

BL’s Blast-Off was first established in 2006 by 1988 World Surfing Champion Barton Lynch (Perfect Wave’s original brand ambassador) as a coaching program and surfing championship that has grown into an internationally recognised event. Expanding from its beginnings on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, BL’s Blast-Off has continued to grow over the years, with plans for numerous global events in 2022 and beyond.

As it has developed and evolved, BL’s Blast-Off has become known for its focus on sharing knowledge and coaching the young surfers involved, as much as it is about competition. In 2022, the event hones this element more than ever before.

Every entrant to BL’s Blast-Off will receive coaching feedback and advice from a selected range of professional coaches, imparting their invaluable experience and advice to young groms around the world. It’s an opportunity for boys and girls, 16years and under, to learn from some of surfing’s most trusted and experienced names.

2020 & 2021 saw some true talent emerge and since then, they have gone on to great things and wow the world in the water.
