A small, traditional population, dry tropical climate and traditional rural villages Sumba feels very different from other surfing destinations in Indonesia. The roads are infrequently used and most accommodation caterers for hard-core surfers who flock to waves like Miller’s Right and Mangkudu Lefts for quality without the crowds or the costs. The exception though is  the resort of Nihi Sumba;  a luxury, eco-resort which has exclusive use of the world class “Occy’s Left” out the front. It ain’t cheap, but it remains one of surfing’s true exceptional, luxury experiences.
