Best Waves

Queenies
This is the main wave directly in front of Na Finua. It is a playful right‑hand reef that stays consistent through the season and suits beginner to intermediate surfers. It handles all swell directions, stays clean in easterly winds, and breaks best from low to high tide. Expect 2 to 4 foot walls with long, easy rides and a mellow takeoff that makes it the go‑to wave for most sessions.

Na Finua Island Main / Back Break
This is the more powerful wave just off Na Finua, reachable by a short paddle or a walk at low tide. It is a right‑hand reef that can build to 8 feet and offers longer, more powerful sections suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. It handles a range of swell directions, stays clean in lighter winds, and works through most tides. In the right conditions it delivers fast, open faces with enough push to keep experienced surfers smiling.

Piccininies
A consistent right breaking close to a very scenic village. Expect the whole village to come out and join in! Super fun wave.
When to go
The best surf tends to be in Southern Hemisphere Summer when winter stoms across the North Pacific send groundswells across the equator to North and East facing reefs of PNG and Solomon Islands. At the same time trade winds in Hawaiian lattitudes send consistent ENE Trade swells to the same reefs, check out Na Finua to get the most out of these swell trains. At the same time to the south facing reefs around Gizo region are enjoying consisten ESE trade swells born out of the Coral Sea between the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Australian regions. Although lacking the power of the North Pacific Swells, these ESE swells can be super fun and consistent at waves like Palongge and Titiana in New Georgia.
