Unawatuna Bay or Wella Devalaya is 5kms from Galle towards Midigama. It is a powerful righthand reef break for experienced surfers. User friendly beach breaks are found closer in the bay.

Surfing
Great waves are within walking distance from your room at Paradise Beach Club, because the same bounty of southerly swells that hit Indonesia, also eventually find their way to the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. But the higher latitude here causes these long southwest lines to loose some of their energy, which makes for more manageable yet consistent surf for most of the season. For the southwest coast, including Mirissa, this begins from around the end of October until April, when monsoon northeasterly winds create offshore and often glassy conditions on this side of the island.
