A quaint home away from home is waiting for guests looking to explore the beautiful isle of Barbados on a slightly smaller budget. Just a few steps from one of the most popular and beautiful beaches of the south coast stands the recently renovated South Beach Hotel. Accra Beach, just across the road, is well-known for producing consistently fun conditions, and has the ability to produce some great waves on its day. While escaping up or down the fairly accessible coast for a day-trip to more secluded spots can easily be arranged.
Wake up to the mesmerising view of cerulean blue waves crashing onto pure white sand. You won’t need more than boardies, some sunscreen and a good breakfast to enjoy the day.
Stroll across and paddle into the stunning blanket of blue just a stone’s throw away from your room then skip back home to make your favourite meal in an easy-to-use kitchen, before leaving it all behind to dance the night away in the happening town of St Lawrence Gap, just a few minutes away.
This is Barbados, a paradise island as well loved for its unique culture, warm locals and beautiful beaches as its great nightlife, delicious seafood and incredible scenery.
At South Beach Hotel you’ll find just what you need, a little more and no less, to enjoy the best of the stunning south coast which Barbados has to offer.
Their rooms all feature self-catering facilities, fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, views of the large outdoor pool, (or from the penthouse stunning views of the ocean) and let’s not forget air-conditioning which can be a god-send in the tropics.
The hotel has been recently renovated, and its fresh look is unpretentious and comfortable allowing you to feel at home and completely at ease.
Outside you’ll find a great pool, which runs the entire length of the property complete with a nice shallow space perfect for the little ones to splash around in, or for the not-so-little ones to enjoy a cocktail.
You’ll love little extras like a cold towel service twice a day, pool bar sevice, and handy sun-loungers and umbrellas as well as WiFi and the convenient and affordable on-site restaurant as a great option for breakfast or lunch.
When it comes to waves, the south coast has plenty of options but can be more fickle if you’re looking for serious waves to surf. It’s more protected and windier than the north, but probably your best bet for the most ideal combination of waves and culture.
Learners or intermediate surfers looking to hone their skills will love places like Surfer’s Point or Freight’s Bay but Accra Beach is a known swell-magnet with plenty of fun waves on offer.
Choose between five recently renovated room types for your stay at Sea Breeze, all complete with self-catering facilities, balconies, stylish decor and comfortable bedding to enhance your stay.

Surf & Other Activities
Barbados is blessed with consistently fun waves year round, but the southern part of the island, tends to be slightly sheltered from the bigger swells that batter the north.
There are still waves to be had however, especially at places like Accra just around across the road St Lawrence Gap, which works on a south swell and more famous spots like Freight’s Bay and Surfer’s Point.
All spots offering a variety of beautiful waves to suit beginner to intermediate surfers.
The upside is with an ease of access to a number of waves, you’ll always have plenty of options to stay in the water, especially if you are looking to improve your surfing or play in softer, smaller waves.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for more of a challenge there is always the option of scoping further north, where places like Bathsheba, home to the world famous Soup Bowls (touted as one of Kelly Slater’s favorite barrels), and Parlour offer rideable waves practically every day of the year.
Between October and March the island often lights up with bigger ground swells that can create world class waves on their day, but offering a surf experience not for the faint of heart. Fortunately further down the coast, there is always a protected wave to suit your ability.
Surfing lessons can also be arranged at a number of different local beaches.
Laze by the beautiful outdoor pool, complete with bar service and a shallow spot for sitting or the little ones.
You can try your hand at sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling or jet-skiing, with plenty of operators in the area.
You can visit the major fishing community of Oistins just down the road, or visit the lively bars and brimming restaurants at St Lawrence Gap a 1.3km stretch of beach nearby.
Or simply stroll across the street to Accra, one of the longest, widest and most popular beaches on the south coast. It often has nice waves, plenty of people and beautiful blue water to enjoy.
South Coast Boardwalk
From the western end of Accra Beach begin a one kilometer journey along a beautiful boardwalk which runs parallel with the shore. Great for walking, jogging, or taking in the sunsets.
Pick up your necessary goods and nick-nacks from Quayside, a shopping centre next door to South Beach hotel.
You’ll find a gift shop, surf shop, clothing boutiques, coffee and pattiseries and plenty of spots to eat international cuisine, like pizza, Chinese and Mexican.
One of Barbados’ newest malls, Lanterns, is within walking distance too.
You’ll find everything from incredible caves (Animal Flower Cave and Harrison Cave) to World Heritage Sites like the Historic Garrison, unique monuments like the national cricket museum, to picturesque beaches, beautiful old lighthouses and mountains to explore alongside everything else this beautiful island has to offer.

“This hotel has everything you need without fuss and huge luxuries that would cost an arm and a leg to stay in Barbados.
Having visited Barbados for the last 30 years and stayed in the most expensive of the hotels on the island, this little hotel gives you the basics so you can get out there and explore the food and culture of this wonderful island...”
Paul, April 2015
“We have just booked to stay here for the 3rd time. We have been to Barbados over a dozen times, stayed in places a lot more expensive and also of a similar price. But this Hotel offers us exactly what we need. Clean, comfortable, super friendly staff, ideally positioned and one of the best beaches on the island. Nothing is too much trouble for the fantastic staff at this hotel. We would highly recommend.”
