Surfing
Hikkaduwa is one of the best spots for waves in Sri Lanka with best waves during the dry season from November to March. There are 4 main breaks - a beach break for beginners in the south, a main reef break in the middle which can get quite crowded in the high season. There's another reef beach towards the north, which usually gets smaller waves and much less crowded. Shop, visit the Buddhist temples, waterfalls, natural reserves when it's flat.
