Quarters

Gulhigaathuhuraa, uninhabited island attached to Anantara Resort. Eastern Reef of South Male Atoll. The wave has two sections, the outside is a fat, slow and meandering wave perfect for longboarders and even beginners and the inside section is a really nice, fast little right-hander that picks up less swell than most other places but on its day delivers perfect barrels. Best in winds W to NW, named after the resort workers’ quarters on the island.

Riptides

A right hander breaking for 150 meters on a reef in the middle of a channel. Need a transfer to this wave even though it is very close. The wave is aptly named as sometimes very strong currents can sweep you seaward so we always check current conditions before settling in for a session. Great wave for the longboarders and shortboarders as well as low intermediate surfers, providing very carvable walls with the occasional hollow section. Best with S swell and SW wind.

A fickle, but freight train of a lefthander that provides a long, perfect but intense ride.

Natives / Foxys

This wave is very fast and hollow breaking over relatively shallow coral. It’s “Goofys Paradise” or if you’re fast on the backhand you will love this wave. Breaks for 100 to 150 metres and provides many barrel opportunities. Best with SE swell and NW wind. On transfer you will visit both Foxy’s and Rip Tides, so you get the best of both worlds.

The Charter

Island Safari Maldives Surf Charter 2022 (3)

This sleek and spacious surf charter has 10 air-conditioned and spacious cabins that all feature large en-suite bathrooms and the classic Maldivian handcrafted timber interiors. There is a great range of shared spaces from the open top viewing deck, the wicker outdoor lounge on the upper rear deck. The interior main deck has a huge dining area and bar with a separate forward lounge and Audio Visual system.
The Island Safari 2 is also accompanied by a dhoni, the spacious and hardworking ”Aimo II”, with secure board racks and awesome back step for easy entry and exit to the water or fishing. The cabins are fully airconditioned with individual AC controls. 10 cabins are available: 2 Upper Twin/Double Suites, 3 Lower twin/triple, 2 Lower triple/quad, 3 Lower twin/double. All rooms with ensuite private bathrooms.

Food and beverage

Meals on the boats are all-you-can-eat and are a mixture of Maldivian, Sri Lankan and western dishes. The chefs are also willing to adjust the menu to suit individual needs if required. You can advise us after you book if you have any allergies and we can advise the chef before your trip. For Breakfast, tea, coffee, fruit, juice, toast, cereals and eggs and/or pancakes are provided. Lunch & dinner is a banquet of five different dishes with daily variations including fresh fish & tuna dishes, curries, rice and pasta dishes, vegetables and salads. Meat dishes are provided but usually we try to provide fresh food from the local environment. Evening meals are followed by dessert and lunch is followed by a fruit dish. Tea and coffee is served after all meals. A bunch of bananas ripen on deck and you can eat these as you wish. Water is also free and you will be given your own Perfect Wave water bottle on arrival which you can put your name on and refill as you wish. This helps save the local environment from the pollution of using plastic bottles.

Surf Guide

Experienced female guides/coaches will accompany you so you can enjoy:
Surf coaching (if required) for all levels.
Beginners will learn the basics of surfing, such as paddling a board, ‘pop ups’, turtle rolls, surfing etiquette, confidence and improved capability in the water.
Intermediate surfers will learn tips and recommendations for individual improvement using the latest in surf coaching techniques.
This tour is also suitable for those who do not surf, as there are plenty of locations for snorkelling, sun baking, reading or just relaxing.
