Hotel Marillen is a ski in / ski out Austrian styled chalet providing guests with the ultimate skiing adventure. Situated within the Happo One ski area guests have convenient access to local ski slopes while enjoying comfortable accommodation and exceptional meals from the hotel restaurant. The hotel is located 3 hours from Tokyo and can be accessed by train or bus.

Just 3 hours from Tokyo, Hotel Marillen is considered to have the best location of all Hakuba within the Happo One ski area. With 15 guest rooms on three levels the Austrian styled hotel provides guests with close access to the local ski fields. Hotel Marillen is considered ideal for small groups and families as each of the rooms sleeps between 2 to 4 guests.

Each room at the has a small living area with its own balcony and ensuite bathroom providing a homely atmosphere for guests. Each room also offers great views with rooms either overlooking the ski slopes or the local village. Many guests take advantage of the hotel’s lounge area where they can sit around the fireplace while still watching skiers on the slopes.

Hotel Marillen has its own restaurant and bar to allow guests to enjoy an easy dining experience. The restaurant is bistro styled and serves traditional Tyrolean cuisine as well as a vast array of western cuisines. With its own wine cellar, patrons are also assured of enjoying some of the finest wines within the area. There are two bar areas within the hotel, one situated on the hotel’s front deck allowing guests to enjoy a drink while watching people on the ski fields or the inside bar for those guests who prefer a warmer drinking environment. For guests looking to step out of the hotel for a meal or drink there are also 20 local bars and restaurants within the main village. 

Being in the heart of the Japanese Alps skiers are offered some of the most remarkable skiing experiences they can expect. Hotel Marillen is located in the Happo One ski area which features over 26 lifts and a 1 kilometer vertical descent. This ensures that skiers are offered a wide array of skiing surfaces from long cruising trails to wide open groomers. Most of the terrain is suited to intermediate and advanced skiers however there are also runs for beginner skiers with English speaking lessons being provided. Being host to the 1998 Winter Olympics skiers the Hakuba Valley has become internationally recognized as an ultimate skiing destination.

 

Most guests staying at The Hotel Marillen arrive by coach that drives directly from Narita International Airport or by train. The Hotel provides guests with free transfers from the Hakuba Bus and Train Stations to the hotel.

Accommodation

Marillen Hotel is a distinct looking Australian styled chalet that provides a number of accommodation options for guests. Guests are able to choose between the following rooms:

Twin / Double Room

The twin/double rooms provide guests with two single beds that are able to be attached together to make a queen sized bed. The rooms feature an ensuite and either tables and chairs or a lounge. The room sleeps a maximum of two people. A continental and fully cooked breakfast is provided to guests daily.

Triple Room

The triple room consists of three single beds with two beds being able to be converted into a queens sized bed making this an ideal room for small families. The room sleeps a maximum of three people and either have a table and chairs or a lounge as well as an ensuite. A continental and fully cooked breakfast is provided to guests daily.

Quad Room

This is the largest room on offer and can be converted to a queen sized bed and two single beds of four single beds. The room provides either a table and chairs or a lounge and comes with its own ensuite and storage area for added room. A continental and fully cooked breakfast is provided to guests daily.

Dining:

Hotel Marillen’s restaurant provides guests with breathtaking views of the Nakiyama ski slope ensuring every meal, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, is a memorable experience. The restaurant has gained a reputation for serving world class alpine cuisines including traditional schnitzels, German pork sausages and tasty chocolate fondue. To compliment guest meals there is a large selection of domestic and foreign beers and an extravagant wine list featuring wines Australia, Europe, South America and New Zealand.

Guests are provided with a daily western breakfast including  bacon, eggs and a full continental breakfast selection. For lunch guests have a choice of German hot dogs, hot soups, Goulash or pretzel sandwiches. The dinner menu is much more extravagant providing guests with a wide range of foods from bistro style through to a-la-carte.

Skiing

For guests looking for the ultimate skiing holiday they can be assured of finding exactly what they have been searching for at Happo One. Happo One is a stand alone resort with over 220 hectares of alpine terrain with a steep pitch. This is what stood out in its selection as the home of the 1998 Winter Olympics.

Happo One is best suited to intermediate and advanced skiers although there is also terrain for beginners to learn to ski while they are on holidays. For snowboarders and more advanced skiers there are piste runs that have world famous moguls.

Heli Skiing

For the more adventurous guests there is the opportunity to engage in Heli Skiing at the Tsugaike Resort. Heli Skiing allows guests to enjoy a helicopter flight over the pristine mountainside to the back country where they can experience unexplored skiing areas.

Jigokudani Monkey Park

No journey to Hakuba would be complete without a visit to the Jigokudani Monkey Park where they can witness over 200 wild snow monkeys in their natural environment. The monkeys have become accustomed to tourists, allowing guests to get close to the monkeys as they frolic around in the hot spring waters.
