Best West Papua surf conditions are during the wet season, when the swells and winds in the Indo Pacific are most favourable. November to March are best, which perfectly coincides with low season at Sumatra, Mentawai, West Java and West Bali. You can expect consistent 2-6 foot conditions. There are both easy and challenging breaks in this area.
West Papua relies on storm swells off Korea and also gets some of Hawaii North shore swell that travels across Pacific. Water temperature is consistent 27-29 degrees.
