Review by Ono Niha guest Peter Regan

I think I can say on behalf of all the crew, the Ono Niha offers great value for money!

The boat is more in the traditional Indonesian style than others I’ve experienced and whilst not as luxurious as some, it certainly has its own charm and was significantly cheaper! It is very comfortable with a good dining area, air conditioned sleeping quarters and a covered upper deck for hanging out and watching the waves and sunsets.

Timmy and the crew looked after us very well. Timmy has a good knowledge of the surf options and took us everywhere we wanted to go and most importantly put us onto waves.

We chose to go to the Telo Islands. Alternatively they can take you North to the Banyaks via Asu and Hinako islands.

The food was very good. Best when it was Indonesian style and the chef was very quick to respond to our requests for anything. Loved the fish and sambal!

Last but not least. It was good to support a local guy who employs local crew and is working hard to get ahead. This has benefits for the whole community. If you go I’d recommend a few nights at Timmy’s place, the Keyhole Surf Camp at Lagundri Bay. Its a great place to unwind and find your land legs and if you’re lucky, score a great wave or two.
