Why I am so Stoked Right Now And You Should Be Too

Hello! Mark Occhilupo here, just back from my fourth epic trip with The Perfect Wave. I’m feeling refreshed, relaxed and re-energized to surf more than ever right now.

Scoring amazing waves overseas is a massive motivator and something I look forward to doing as often as possible now that I’m retired from competing.

I have now done 3 annual trips to the Mentawai and 1 to Kandooma, the Maldives (with my son Jay) with The Perfect Wave. I love both regions with a passion to go on relaxing surf trips.

All up, I have done 15 or 16 trips to the Mentawai in my career, including one very memorable trip with close pal Andy Irons. My most recent trip to the Mentawai with The Perfect Wave was right up there amongst my best.

I don’t think I have surfed that much in a week in recent years, and it’s that surfed out feeling at the end of the day that I find really rewarding. The Mentawai has so much diversity – I can’t help but go back to sample different waves every time.

Although the waves are always different every time, it is that familiar content feeling at the end of a long day in the water that stokes me out every time.
