PNG Explorer

Enjoy the flexibility of being on a boat and the knowledge of your experienced skipper/surf guide who will always take you to the best possible locations. Accommodation is air-conditioned for 12 guests in total with four single/double cabins plus two twin cabins. Solidly built, this spacious 23-metre charter vessel has been refitted to ensure the absolute comfort and functionality for the ultimate uncrowded surf charter experience in the perfection of tropical PNG. Providing fantastic service is a top priority for PNG’s most experienced duo in surf exploration with Captain Andrew Rigby and wife Jude. Together with their experienced crew, they aim to maintain and expand on the great hospitality & PNG experience they have provided over the past 4 years of surf charters.

Nusa Island Retreat

For surfers looking for somewhere uncrowded different and remote, Nusa Island Retreat is surrounded by an unspoilt natural playground which boasts an excellent variety of numerous surf breaks and waves throughout the surf season. Nusa Island was voted one of the ten best beaches in the world – it is set on an idyllic sandy island point and surrounded by superb swimming beaches with crystal clear, coral encrusted lagoons that are teeming with marine life, not to mention the World War II ship and plane wrecks that are also nearby. Stay in the beautiful traditional island-style beach or over-water bungalows.

Rubio Plantation Retreat

Rubio Plantation Retreat is in the remote central northeastern coast of New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea. From here, you can search the remote coastline and offshore islands for an undiscovered wave. At Rubio they limit the number of guests to15 so there is never a crowd. They also limit the number of surfers at the retreat to 10 and the number of visiting surfers to the central coast region is limited to 20 by the Central New Ireland Surf Management Plan. Rubio‘s accommodation consists of 6 separate bungalows. All bungalows are made from native materials and are located along the beachfront.

Vanimo Surf Lodge

Vanimo Surf Lodge is located in waves-abundant part of Papua New Guinea, close to Indonesian borders. This absolutely remote territory with very few tourists visiting every year has been visited by adventurous surfers since 1980s. The amount of surfers in water at any time rarely exceeds 6 and it is usually 3-4. The right-hander just outside the Surf Lodge (Lido’s Right or Vanimo Right) is super consistent and offers long, walkable rides, but they also have a vehicle that they take to 6 surrounding surf breaks which are about 5-10 minutes drive away east and west of the Surf Lodge.
