The Perfect Wave is very excited to announce the 2015 Surf Music in Paradise series will feature two iconic Australian musicians playing three gigs in seven days at the beautiful Kandooma Resort, the Maldives.

Last year, TPW kicked off our very own unique concept with two exclusive boutique surf music shows featuring Californian surfer/musician Donavon Frankenreiter.

The 80 stoked fans who attended said it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. One fan, Trevor Burns, said, “I  have never been to another gig that was anything like it, not even close. It was such a special week hanging out with my partner Jess, jamming with and singing along with Donny and then going surfing in the morning. I thoroughly recommend the experience for singles, couples or hey take the whole family. We met some cool people and the vibe was one of stoke.”

This year we have stepped it up a notch with an iconic underground Australian music legend Tex Perkins (front man for seminal supergroups The Beasts Of Bourbon, The Cruel Sea, Tex, Don and Charlie, The Dark Horses and many more) performing 3x shows from September 6-13.

Surfer/songwriter Pete Murray has also just announced he will be performing 3 shows this June 20-27. Pete is amped to be able to combine his dual loves of surfing and music in the tropics with his partner, and is looking forward to some chilled downtime and the special sunset gigs.

Kandooma Resort in the Maldives is an incredible venue.

I can’t think of anywhere better to escape the winter cold.

If you surf, you can surf the beautiful right hander straight out the front, or take a dhonni to 6 other nearby breaks. If you are all surfed out, or don’t surf at all, there is plenty more to see and do. You can go snorkelling, scuba diving, practice some yoga with our qualified teachers, eat world class food while hanging out at one of the many slick poolside bars.

Surf Music In Paradise is the combined brainchild of The Perfect Wave’s CEO Jamie Gray and Global Marketing Manager – Ben Horvath. Ben said, “As a fan, attendee and indeed sponsor of some of  the early BDO’s, Warped Tours and many other gigs when I was publishing Underground Surf Magazine, I know the super crowded, sweaty, over policed festival gigs these days are no longer a fun option for anyone over 25. I know I would much rather combine my love of music and surfing with an extremely special week in paradise. Who wouldn’t? You could say you participated in a truly, memorable experience. Plus, what an incredible opportunity for fans who may well have seen someone like Tex perform at The Hopetoun, Trade Union Club or Pala is Theatre back in the day, and then see him play in front of 50 or 60 like minded fans in the Maldives.”

Likewise and perhaps even more so with Pete. PM is used to playing quite large venues, so to be able to watch pete Murray with 60 or 70 real fans at the Sunset Bar, Kandooma Resort, the Maldives will truly be a once in a lifetime experience.

Pete’s unlikely story… a rising Rugby football star that was so badly injured that he had to leave his sport behind, pick up an acoustic guitar, teach himself how to play and then record an indie CD that he sold after shows from the back of his Kombi Van is compelling.

The fact that he became Australia’s most popular singer/songwriter with ‘Feeler’ which went on to sell 6x platinum in Australia (450,000 copies) and earnt 12 ARIA Award nominations is mindblowing.

We are capping numbers for both these gigs to ensure they are intimate and a real value for money lifetime experience

If you book either of these experiences before March 31 you will save serious $ and absolutely guarantee your place at a super special gig well before we sell out.
