“Eat. Sleep. Surf. Repeat.” That’s what it says on one of the t-shirts I got from my sponsors before I came on this trip. “That might be a little cheesy”. I thought then. “That’s exactly what we are doing!” is what Sylvi said to me smiling when I put it on the other day. “True” I smile too. Now it’s my favourite shirt.
The past 7 days, we have been surfing every morning and evening. And by surfing I don’t mean sitting in a busy lineup and catching one or two waves. I mean arriving at empty lineups all to ourselves, set after set rolling in, going for gold.
How we managed to actually fit a party, table tennis tournaments and a visit to the local kids school into this Eat. Surf. Sleep routine? I don’t know. But we did it. It was so amazing.
Also surfing with the kids… no words needed, united through water and waves, communicating with smiles. How can I even still move? I haven’t been stretching much… I feel my neck and shoulders pretty badly one of the smaller days… but the waves pick up again, I have a sugary cappuccino and just push through. How? I guess this must be the stoke of surfing: waves fill you with energy and you just keep going. The bigger they are, the more you see them, the less you see yourself. The happier you become. Eat. Sleep. Surf…. Smile.
TPW Surfing Mermaids next trip is a fun filled boat charter in the Maldives and you are invited!
