Lucas, Diego and Fernando took over the boat in June 2022, and have been creating raving fans ever since with their professional service and surf guiding.

We caught up with Lucas as soon as the Seriti team have concluded the 2024 season, to ask how their year was, and what to look forward to in 2025.

Hi Lucas. Thank you very much for your time today, and for your hard work for our clients. How many seasons have you done in Banyaks, Telos and Ments now?

I’ve been surf guiding in the Banyaks and Mentawai Islands for seven seasons now. It’s been an incredible journey filled with perfect waves and experiences over the years.

How was the 2024 surf season?

The 2024 surf season was one of the best I’ve had since I started surf guiding.
The season was really consistent in terms of swell, but during July and August, the south winds bothered us a bit. However, overall it was an excellent one.

Where have you and your guests been surfing?

This season offered a wide range of swells, allowing us to explore and surf spots all over the Mentawai and Banyak Islands. We made the most of the conditions, taking advantage of the diverse breaks these regions have to offer.

How have the crowds and the vibes been in the water this year?

Since COVID, the Mentawai region has seen a noticeable increase in crowds. That said, the boats’ ability to access more remote and less crowded waves is a big advantage. Trips are typically a mix of days where the lineups are crowded and others where we’re fortunate to surf nearly empty waves. There’s always a balance to navigate, and each trip offers a blend of those extremes and everything in between.

What are your expectations for next year?

I’m optimistic that the Indian Ocean will continue to deliver clean, barreling conditions in 2025. I’m looking forward to scoring more epic waves and sharing those memorable moments with our guests.

Are you currently running any special deals, or have any news?

Yes, we’re offering a couple of exciting opportunities. First, we have a special trip lined up with School of Barrels, which is my surf coaching program. It’s designed to help surfers improve their presence and calmness in the water, no matter the situation.

This trip is scheduled for April 7–19, 2025.
