Whether you are a boat trip virgin or an Indo veteran, there really is no need to look beyond The Mentawai! Situated off the coast of West Sumatra is pretty much the Garden of Eden for surfers, home to the ultimate bunch of real wave pools in a natural environment. Kai Dua is
The average non surfer (poor sods) usually doesn’t have much of a clue about the lure of the surfing lifestyle- the pure stoke surfers feel whilst riding every single wave. As the marketing catch cry goes “Only A Surfer Knows The Feeling.” Snowboarders, skateboarders or even wakeboarders can kinda relate, but what
The 24-meter (80ft) Kai Satu is an excellent value for money surf charter. Ideal for groups of 8 to 12 surfers, it’s run by crew of Mentawai veterans focused on making sure you get the most out of your 9 to 12-day trip. Taking into account your group’s skill level and the swell forecast, the…
Surfers are definitely one of the most nomadic of tribes. Whether we’re on recreational surfaris with friends, cruisey island hops with a partner, styling at a family resort or just moving onto greener pastures for variety’s sake, we are by nature a gang of explorers constantly searching for fresh frontiers

Bob McTavish is a most gracious host: always quick with a compelling story and his rendition of the Gillian Welch song “Miss Ohio” was a real treasure. Everyone chipped in on jam nights with the craziest mix of songs.
