      • wave just a minute from Lohis villas

HudhuranFushi, meaning “Island of White Gold”, boasts stunning white beaches and a beautiful turquoise lagoon with crystal clear water, surrounded by coral reefs teeming with colourful tropical fish.

The reef off the resort is one of the best surfing spots in the area. Lohis is a perfect left-hander which wraps around the south east corner of the resort and is a short paddle off the resort.

Formally called Lohifushi, the resort has 40 Ocean Villas and 137 Beach Villas. Only 30 minutes from Male by speedboat, this resort is popular with surfers due to it's location and access to the North Male breaks.

The surf season is from mid March until November. We can also book the resort outside of the surf season and sometimes you can score fun, glassy 2-3ft waves outside the surf season too. A minimum of 2 surfers is required for the surf transfers to run.

Any surfer wanting a to stay at Hudhuranfushi Resort from March until October must book a surfer package, or they will not be able to surf Lohis or have access to the dhoni boats to surf the surrounding breaks.

Accommodation

Lohis Rooms: These oceanfront beach villas are the best place for surfers. We talk about a 1 minute walk from your bed to the surf break. 1 double bed or 2 single beds with TV, Mini Bar, wardrobe, well appointed bathroom and a small relaxation deck. Ideal for a couple or 2 surfing mates.

Alternatively, you can choose between a Beach Villa, complete with thatched roof, timber front decking and open air bathroom or one of the newer Overwater Villas which literally sit (on stilts) right on the water!

The Beach Villas are perfect for couples, small families, or can be occupied twin share or triple share between mates.  For larger families it is possible to request interconnecting rooms. These villas are spacious and most are just a few steps from the water. There will be a maximum of 35 surfers permitted on island at any time.

The exclusive Ocean Villas are a world of refinement and luxury. Beautifully furnished in a modern Japanese design, they are a MUST for honeymooners or couples looking for something a bit more special and are well worth the extra cost.

Surf & Other Activities

Surfing

Love a good left?
The epic Lohis surf break breaks just off the resort. If you happen to stay at one of the Lohis villas, the wave is just 1 minute walk from your bedroom. It's a very consistent wave that picks up plenty of swell and you're very likely to score quality waves between March and October.

There is a maximum of 45 surfers permitted to stay at the resort at any time, and they will be spread around Lohis as well as other North Male surf spots, making it a very manageable number and the break uncrowded.

Richard and Amy Kotch have been running a surf program and taking epic photos of all surfers for 7 seasons now, and will take a great care of you while you stay there. You can count on a good advice about surfing in the area, and you'll come home with lots of professional photos of yourself surfing (extra cost).

Other surf breaks that you can access from the Hudhuranfushi surf resort are: Ninjas, Sultans, Honkeys, Jails, Cokes, Chickens and more.

Kristin (April 2018)

Hudhuranfushi was amazing in terms of friendliness of staff and general vibe. The waves at Lohi's were a bit too big for me to surf when we were there and two swell directions made it a bit more complicated wrgt being caught inside as I don't duckdive, but my husband had a blast there. I went on boat trips 3-4 times, and had a really nice time at Ninjas when the waves got small enough for that spot. We stayed in a Lohi's villa (next to the surf spot), and enjoyed staying there because the vibe was really nice and we liked eating breakfast and lunch in the restaurant there.

James (March 2018)

Our trip was fantastic! The waves weren’t the best, but I knew that this time of the year wasn’t guaranteed going in, so that is what it is. But everything else was on point! Food, staff, the island, everything! We will definitely be going back. Thank you so much for making the booking easy. It all went so smoothly.

Alexander De Young (October 2017),

Great experience through and through! Great uncrowded waves with an awesome crew onshore.

Christine Diane Tasker, ( September 2017)

This was the best surf trip (with partner) ever undertaken by this traveler. Surf pumped and was exactly at the right level of difficulty/interest over the week. The fact that we had access to 2 boat trips per day if we wanted variety was fantastic. The break out the front was the focal point though. Food and drinks were first class. Organization was A grade.

Amy Sherlock (September 2017),

The changes that have been made at Lohis made the experience even better than the last time we went. As always the surf guides were awesome! Can't wait to go back again!

Kate Butler (September 2017),

Hudhuranfushi was a dream come true – I’m not drinking again for a while though, haha!
The Lohis rooms were super comfy, a really good size, and we loved that we were so close to the break so Paul could do a check in the morning. He had a wonderful time surfing, wasn’t crowded compared to some of the other breaks in the area. The food was again awesome.

Donna Masing , August 2017,

Yes Rich and Amy were amazing and we had a wonderful time, thank you!I got to chickens with a full boat of supporting surfers on one of the final days. It was fantastic!! Great waves, a lot of fun and a truly healing experience.  Rich took some stunning shots which ill send to you, for now here's one of me taking off there 🙂 Thanks again for all your help organising this trip, it was so good to go back!

Val & Dave Valentine (June 2017),

We had a fantastic surfing holiday at the Resort and would recommend it to anyone. It is our second trip to the Maldives and rate it better than Pasta Point if you enjoy a fun left hand wave. The resort and rooms are clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our outside bathroom and comfortable king size bed. Our stay was in a Lagoon bungalow which was only 20 metres from a beautiful lagoon we enjoyed swimming, snorkelling and stand up paddle boarding on daily. Although it was a 500 metre walk to check the surf break from our room - the paths and gardens are kept immaculate by the gardening team and just lovely to walk through them. The beautiful banyan trees are everywhere and it was a relaxation haven with a great tropical atmosphere. Also, by walking so much we didn't feel guilty about all of the food we enjoyed. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all served buffet style and there was an excellent selection of food at every meal (& you can eat as much as you like.) The desserts at lunch and dinner were absolutely delicious! The staff are all very friendly and professional. Unfortunately the weather was Monsoonal during our stay with quite a bit of rain and wind which affected the surf, so hubby did not get as many waves as he would have liked to on our trip but you can't pick the weather on any holiday. It is a great spot for viewing the surfers from the deck with a cocktail and camera in hand. The rain didn't stop us too much as the temperature remained at around 28C day and night - air conditioning worked well in the room.
There are 4 bars on the Island and a visit to each one to taste the cocktails and beer included in our package was a great way to meet people and spend an afternoon. We enjoyed a couple of massages at the Spa during our stay, which were great - but extremely expensive. Transport to the Island is by boat and a comfortable 30 minute trip. Overall - we had a wonderful time although the weather wasn't perfect for the surf, but that's nature.

Steve (March 2017)

Just a quick line to say we had an epic trip !! surfed pumped every day and we managed to score Sultans,Jails,& Honkeys as well as Lohis so every one happy.

Lakey (October 2016)
Thanks Marie for an awesome trip, all went smoothly from the booking all the way through to the holiday itself. Will definitely be booking through you guys again in the future.

Andy (September 2016)
The Sunset Surf Camp is nicely laid out, rooms were basic but clean tidy and all you need, shower hot/cold water, swimming pool and loungers good addition, close to St Francois about 10 5-10 minute walk or borrow a bike from the camp. Peyo and his wife could not be more helpful and welcoming, happy to advise or arrange most things for you. Surf lessons each day were great and flexible, really nice break in the bay for beginners. What can I say beaches, sun, waves and plenty surf or other sporting activities should you want or relax by the pool or in a hammock..

Richard (September 2016)
Great trip and well organized from you guys at perfect wave, look forward to my next adventure, wont hesitate to book through you again, thanks Simone great waves 😃😃😃

Shannon (July 2016)
For me it was a life long dream to surf in the Maldives and Sylvia and her team at The Perfect Wave were great to make this happen with our challenging time frame and short notice.
Lohi's left pumped all week with offshore overhead waves and the whole experience at the island resort was brilliant and one of the best surf trips I've done.
I would definitely recommend the team at The Perfect Wave and although we have only been back in Oz one week, I'm already planning my next trip. Thanks Sylvia

Bradley (June 2015)
Just returned from a week at Lohis in the Maldives! what an amazing place for a surf trip with a group of mates.
Food was top shelf and plentiful
Accommodation was 5 star with immaculately groomed gardens and pathways felt like i was on an island in the middle of the indian ocean.
Great surf and plenty of waves due to restrictions on numbers in the camp.
Boat transfers to nearby waves everyday stress free with good advice from surf guides as to where to sit currents etc.
Highly recommend this trip to anyone.

Tim (May 2015)
The Perfect Wave delivered a trip that met all expectations for our surf party at Hudhuran Fushi resort in the Maldives. The trip was well organised, facilities and service met all expectations and the surf was fabulous. The Goofies surfed large to perfect mid size Lohi's all week whilst the Naturals surfed big and perfect Sultans and Jails all week. But nothing beats the afternoon beer on Lohi's deck in the sun watching your mates catch the last waves of the day.

David (May 2014)

The resort was just fantastic just what we wanted … loved every minute.Richard and Amy Kotch who manage the surf program were fantastic despite the poor conditions and made up for it by showing us amazing coral and sea life. All our documents were spot on flights, times and island and surf vouchers were all correct and we had no problems with baggage or boards with the airline or customs. All in all a great experience as a first time surf trip. Thanks Charlie.

Dace (August 2013)

Hey Charlie, just wanted to thank you for organizing our trip to Maldives. I know it can be tricky dealing with a bunch of fussy surfers (and their wives) as well as trying to accommodate everyone's needs. We had an awesome time at the resort. Everything was great -the set up, the staff, the accommodation. We particularly loved the food -there was such a huge variety of everything! Thanks again for everything, I'll gladly recommend The Perfect Wave to all my mates :)Cheers,Dace

Matt (January 2009)

Hi Rhonda, I just wanted to send a quick e-mail to say a big thank you for all your help in organising my recent honeymoon. Your help and input was much appreciated and no doubt had a big influence on us having an absolutely amazing time. The Maldives....amazing place!!! Everything went really well, from the pick-ups and transfers through to the nice little swell running while we were at Hudhuran Fushi. We were more than happy at Kandooma, but Hudhuran Fushi really blew us away. It is such a beautiful place and the overwater villas were amazing. Truly a memorable experience. Thank you once again. I will definitely be in touch to arrange the next trip through you, though the next one will likely be a boys trip. Open to suggestions... Matt

Steve (July 2010)

Hi Rhonda, Just a short note to say thanks for a great trip to the Hudhuranfushi Resort, got the biggest swell in years (triple overhead). Everything went to plan with Perfect Wave, highly recommend doing business with Perfect Wave again. Resort was spotless with great service. Definitely booking next year as soon as I can confirm dates I will contact you to make all the bookings. Once again thanks for a great holiday.Steve & Leanne

Deepa (July 2008)

Thank you for organizing the best trip of my life. Honestly, it really set the standard for how a beach/surf holiday should be. Hudhuran fushi is the most beautiful place we have ever been to and Craig got some pretty awesome waves too..I loved that its not just a resort for surfers but catered for surf widow and children too The snorkeling is out of this world, just a short distance away from our room, we got to see moray eels, awesome fish, stingrays and turtles and all this in beautiful clear aqua water. The rooms and service were outstanding too.. We stayed mainly in the beach bungalows and finished our trip with a few nights in the most luxurious Ocean Villas. The beach bungalows were massive and tastefully decorated with an awesome outdoor (but private) shower.. There’s something very special about showering in the open!! The room boys were courteous and always smiling and they made our beds and replaced towels twice a day! In addition to that, they were very talented in their origami-like folding of the sheets – outstanding designsWhat really struck me however, was how safe we felt with absolutely no threat of theft. Craig would always leave his surfboard out on the verandah when he wasn’t using it and we had our expensive camera gear lying about but at no point did we feel that they might get nicked!I managed to make friends with one of the cleaners who brought us fresh coconut to have from time to time – that was a real treat! The Ocean Villas were out of this world.. The Japanese décor of the rooms was exceptional, we were very appreciative of the Sunbeam coffee machine in the room and the overall attention to detail. The bathroom opening up onto your own private deck was awesomeHaving your own butler bring you anything you want felt incredibly decadent… The sunsets and sunrises from the villas as second to none and being able to star jump straight from the private deck into the aqua water made us giddy with pleasure. The hors d'oeuvres and chocolates that we got every evening that were served were delectableTo top it off there were golf buggies available at your beck and call driven by your butler to take you to wherever you wanted on the island and back to your villa Craig immensely enjoyed the consistently perfect waves at Lohis and at Ninjas straight across the channel. I didn’t feel so much a surf widow as you can on such trips since I was so close to the action, especially at the Lohi’s bar deck where it was exciting to watch and film the boys in action. When I was sick of hearing the boys wax lyrical about the surf, I took myself off to the Coconut Spa for the world class Sensations Package and the pampering I deserved.I normally shy away from all inclusive package holidays, but in this case, it was not only affordable but an economical holiday .Having been apprehensive about not getting enough food, I was pleasantly surprised (even as a veggo ) with the huge array of quality produce and the varied smorgasbord . The buffet changed daily with different themed dinners every day and despite eating all three meals at the same restaurant for 10 days, we never got sick of the food . A nice touch was having our own dedicated waiter for the whole duration of the trip who after a few days knew exactly our drinks order without us having to prompt himIn short the Hudhuran Fushi resort may be a distant paradise destination but worth every cent and minute that it took us to get there When are we going again Jamie?? Seva (November 2008)

had a terrific time - bungalows were fab. Glorious weather. We were the first guests to stay in the bungalows so still a few tiny things that needed to be finished off and settling in matters but in no way did it hinder any enjoyment. Loved it - privacy was great. Lagoon was quite shallow so not too many swims off the bungalow - had to walk out a distance for any depth but still enjoyed a splash and cool down.Arrived at the bungalow to a bottle of French champagne, which was lovely.A little pre dinner snack each night in room with chocolates and bed turned down each evening, towels replaced.Service good, food average but fresh salads and fruit plentiful. You get tired of eating every meal in the dining hall. Did not have time to have other meals (and a little pricey when you have already paid for full board so would definitely like the option of half board if possible next time. They tell us they are building a restaurant next to the water bungalows which sounds great and I would think would be a little more up market.Water excursions were only every few days which was slightly annoying but snorkeling was good. I did the 2 available excursions.John surfed everyday but was only him for a boat on first 2 days and they would not take him out so surfed off the resort which he said was great. Surfed from boat for 3 days - one day great, and then not so great.Water activities staff were not so helpful (with boats etc) the first few days but then all was OK when the 'boss' arrived back. They have a Spa now which I used 3 times (so I kept myself busy!) and John 2 times. We both had a glorious time. Will go again a little earlier in the year for better surf. Thanks so much - worth every penny.Seva -WANov07

Rhonda(June 2008)

We had a beautiful time in the Maldives. The Ocean View Villa's were absolutely beautiful and worth the extra money. The butler's were very obliging and did their very best to make us feel welcome. The surf was excellent, Pete went on about five boat trips and the rest of the time he surfed at Lohi's.I absolutely loved the pampering at the Coconut Spa where they have lovely ladies their to do the massages, pedicures etc etc.We have come back with excellent tans (would recommend taking own sunblock and lots of it), and sit in the shade!! It was so hot! It was a great place because you get a mix of so many different nationalities in one place. Thanks so much for organizing our honeymoon. We had no hiccups at all.We will definitely use your services again when we travel.Kind Regards Rhonda - NSWJun08

Vittorio (August 2009)

hi Gina!we're back home. this is to tell you everything was perfect in Maldives. we had very good wave-conditions and nice days in the resort.the only thing we can suggest is..... to tell to the owner of the resort to write somewhere about the surf rules. this is because some people (Israelian people, unable to surf) use to drop in on everybody...........It was funny to see ten of them fighting themselves for the waves.we were lucky because they arrived one day before our last day.next year will do two weeks!!!hope you're ok......ciao!Vittorio - ItalyAug09

Gail (August 2009)

Hi Gina!!Sorry I haven't gotten back to you earlier. Has been a bit hectic at work and really just haven't had the time.... Anyway, all good at the moment, hence this e-mail...We had an absolutely FANTASTIC time!!!! The flights were perfect, the room was perfect, the people were perfect, the food of perfect and of course the surf was the most perfect and hugest surf Graeme had ever ridden!!! There was an awful lot of carnage over a couple of days there towards the end of our stay (Graeme even managed to crack a rib!!), heaps of broken boards and limbs (not ours, thank God!!), but the surf was just amazing. He went out on 2 days (the largest days of course!) to spots he had never surfed before, and spent the rest of the time surfing at Lohi's.I got in the most wonderful massage on one of the days (it was just heaven) and we even upgraded on the last night and stayed in one of the water villas!!!! We snorkelled heaps and saw the most interesting and beautiful fish and sea life. The weather was great. Only had 2 nights where it rained quite heavily and we ended up with water under the door, but the days were great. Probably the worst day weather wise was the 2nd last day, but we spent that day moving to our Water Villa and Graeme hadn't long cracked his rib, so that didn't worry us. (Mind you the bottle of sparking wine they gave us helped fill in the day!! - it was nice to have after so much beer!!!)Drank heaps and heaps of beer, put on way too much weight (much harder to get rid of at my age too - not good!!). Ate way too much - oh well!! (The food was great, but did start to get a little bit repetitive at the end - didn't worry us though - I was just happy not to have to cook!!) We met quite a few people from Australia and had some good conversations and entertainment... We were in bed most nights straight after dinner and up early the next morning to check out the surf and have breakfast and then we would either go surfing (I would watch and take photos) and then go back to the villa (stopping in for a beer on the way) - Graeme would read and I would sunbake (came back with a great tan by the way!). We would then go and have some lunch (with a couple of wines of course) and then go back to the Villa and snorkel or continue on to the surf for some more waves. Each day pretty well went the same way with very minor variations.Quite frankly, it was everything we expected and more and we did not once regret going on this holiday!!!Thank you sooooo much for organising this trip for us and we certainly do appreciate the time and effort that you put into making this a holiday for us to remember....I have attached a couple of photos for you to look at - AND THANKS AGAIN!!!!We may not be able to take another holiday for a while (circumstances have occurred since we returned home), but we will certainly keep an eye on your website and hopefully we can save up enough to not make it too long in the future before we can go on another holiday....RegardsGail - QLDAug09
