The Team

Ari brought martial arts to a training camp in Indonesia as he was preparing for competitions. During his stay, he discovered the beauty of the island, the enchanting people, and the most amazing waves in the world. He developed a new passion for surfing. This passion led him and his best mate Boris to build the foundation of the Bali Surf Camp. Since 1995, he and Boris have been organising different surf camps for people who hold the same passion for surfing.

The Kima surfari team includes the Camp Master Ari, staff for office communication, e-text editor, management, international surf guides, freelance guides and many more. Their team is dedicated and committed to ensuring your experience is unforgettable.

Getting around

Kima is the surf camp that is on the move over land or sea and this is why they are so good. No visitor gets stranded at the hotel because they offer the use of minibuses, jeeps, and even mountain bikes to get you around the island. They also have own drivers to act as your guides to give you rides and help you with anything you need. You will have the opportunity to surf the best waves around the entire island and take part in up to 10 surf sessions a week at different locations. If you are a sports enthusiast, you can go kite boarding, paddling, volcano trekking, rafting, mountain biking and diving.

On the weekends Kima offers an organised cultural and sports trip for the guests. This gives you the chance to relax, tour the island, and get a taste of the way Bali likes to party. If you cannot get enough surfing in and you want to surf on the weekends, they can organise a day trip at the beach for you to some of the best breaks on the island. You can design your own itinerary as you wish and they offer minibuses, jeeps, and mountain bikes for you to use freely or have a driver take you where you want to go. If you do wish to drive yourself, be sure to fill the tank before you return it, and you must have an international driver’s license. Mopeds are also available for a weekly fee.

Kima has all the equipment for surfers and they have plenty of beginner gear too. They have boards for all levels of surfers. Or you bring your own board if you like. If you forget something like wax for your board or you need a new pair of board shorts, they can be purchased at Kima too. There are handful of surf shops around the island.

Surf & Other Activities

Surf guiding

The big plus with Kima Bali surf camp is that the surf guiding is inclusive. They organise guided sessions for all surf levels around the island throughout the week. This means you can take part in up to three guided sessions a day, but you don't have to if you don't want to. At the weekends they offer beach day trips if you still want to surf. If you prefer to spend the weekend having fun, they offer inland culture and sports trips you can join in with.

Kima focuses on surf spots according to the level of surfer you are and depending on the tide, swell and wind conditions. Their guides drive safely and they are trained in life saving. They know the island well. They will also give you an education on the history of the island, teach you about the characteristics of reef surfing, hazards, and even get in the water with you while you surf.

Daily program

The night before you begin surfing sessions, you choose which options suit you best, depending on your skills and interests. All you have to do is put your name on the list and if you aren’t sure our guides are there to assist you. Many advanced surfers like to get off to an early morning surf and take part in more than one session a day.

The good news for beginners is that the beach breaks are right on your doorstep. You can enjoy some amazing waves including Padma, KuDeTa, DoubleSix, and HalfWay. They are perfect to surf your first green wave and learn how to take off. Bali is packed with soft reef breaks and semi-beach breaks for the intermediates. There are many long point breaks that will allow you to push your skills and become an advanced surfer by the end of your holiday. Advanced surfers usually get the most out of the trip because Bali has some of the largest and longest waves around the world. You can enjoy surfing Dreamland, Padang-Padang, Keramas, Balangan, and Uluwatu.
