Other Surf Experiences
I love Fiji. I don’t know how many times I have been there and I even choose Fiji to get married and have a surfing honeymoon. The problem with Fiji though has been that when you are staying at a resort, you need to get transfers out to the waves each time. Although I love resorts with the family, when it is a total surf trip the only way to go is to maximize surf time is a charter boat, and now we have one in Fiji. This boat is an massive sailboat and it weighs over 40 ton so it is solid and even in rough seas you can sleep like a baby. When you have the advantage of a boat moored only a few meters from a world class break like Cloudy, you can spend all day in the water getting barreled. At night a few drinks at Cloud 9 and a BBQ dinner on your own private pontoon, it doesn’t get any better. If you really want to surf Fiji, you have to do this charter and then you will keep coming back. I know we will!
Good boat which gave us easy and flexible access to all the waves in the Mamanuca islands. We scored Cloudbreak for 3 days straight at 6-8ft with some of the biggest hollow barrels ive ever seen! The boat itself is in immaculate condition and I loved the old school timber throughout the vessels interior. Captain Yassin was awesome, friendly fellow and knew his stuff. I felt safe under his guidance. The crew were very friendly and even though they were quite inexperienced they have the potential to be good at what they do, this will just take time. I have done many surf trips and this was definitely in my top 3! I will be back to Fiji on the Regina again one day. LOVED IT!
Just back from a quick mission to the Mamanucas in Fiji and that place is epic. We went over to check out a new charter boat called Regina and it is awesome to know that we now have a very easy surf charter option only 4 hours from Sydney to one of the best waves in the world. The boat was fantastic, and the waves were even better with Cloudbreak proving to us why it’s one of the best in the world. I’d definitely recommend that every surfer worth his (or her) salt get over there at least once in their lifetime and I can guarantee it will be something you’ll never forget.
