Surf & Other Activities

Coconuts can arrange for surf guiding as most of the breaks around the island are reef breaks and must be accessed by boat. The surf guides can take you out on their own boats and show you the best Samoa has to offer.

Coconuts is blessed with several breaks within paddling distance of the resort:

Coconuts is 300 meters off shore directly in front of the resort, a little further west you will find up to 3 other breaks including Catapult (named after one of Mika’s cocktail concoctions). Tafitoala is a popular left. In the other direction, there are another two breaks, a left called Siumu just in front of the village Siumu. Further down the coast, you will find a black sand beach Aganoa which is fantastic for snorkelling and swimming in the crystal clear water, but just off the coast you will find Boulders, one of the most popular breaks in Samoa!

If you would like to take a break from the surf, the resort offers loads of other activities:
  • Snorkelling.
  • Kayaks.
  • Stand Up Paddle Boards
  • Daily tours such as Southwest Coast - Hidden Beaches, Southeast Coast - The Aleipata Coast, Northeast Coast - Mountains, Sea cliffsand Piula Cave Pool, Waterfalls of Samoa, Apia City Tour/Sliding Rocks/Robert Louis Stevenson Home, Manono Island Tour, Togitogiga National Park Tour or just create your own!

Other Surf Experiences

Linda (September 2018)

Coconuts Beach Resort is amaxing! Every staff member is happy and there to please, nothing is an inconvenience. We stayed in the Beach Fale and wow just a couple meters from the waters edge. The room was roomy, clean and very comfortable with uninterrupted views of the water. You go to sleep and wake to the sound of the swell. Once you open your eyes you look out to the crystal waters and the swell breaking at Coconuts. Neil, the surf guide is waiting to take you out for your morning surf and then upon your return the restaurant is waiting to serve you food. The restaurant serves the most amazing fresh food that you can’t get enough of.

Mark (September 2018)

Coconuts Beach Club was. perfect place to stay...staff were genuinely interested that we have the best possible experience whilst in Samoa. Friendly, attentive and always ready to provide advice that only a local can, the Samoans possess a beautiful culture that welcomes everyone. Neil, from Manoa charters, was full of info. and took us to amazing places, offering plenty of options when the surf wasn’t happening.

Dave (January 2018)

Happy NY 🙂
Back to work for me today. The holiday is quickly becoming a distant memory…
We had a great time in Samoa. It really did surpass our expectations in terms of a location. So much great stuff to do. The girls loved it and Coconuts was really good.
I went out with Neil a bunch of times and had a lot of fun on a left he took us to. Some of the other waves though I really struggled with, even at a smaller size they were powerful and pretty tricky compared to what I’m used to. The other two guys were a lot better than me and had a ball though. The left though, I would happily surf every day of my life, loads of fun.
Thanks to PW for organising the whole thing so flawlessly!

Mark Steward (October 2017)

I just got back from a fabulous week at Coconuts Beach Resort in Samoa.we were looking for a holiday where I could get some waves, and also be able to spend the rest of the time having a holiday with Roslyn, and Samoa worked out perfectly for that. The surf was often challenging for an old guy on a long-board (a few big days on the reef), but the surf guy Neil Lumsden from Manoa Tours (based at Coconuts) did a wonderful job of finding the best options that suited the majority of people on the boat.

Nina (May 2017),

Hi Sylvia,

Our trip was great! Thanks so much for all that you did for us. Coconuts Resort suited us well, the staff were lovely and all locals and the food was way too good! Our accomodation was without doubt the best we could have hoped for in terms of our outlook and being over the water. Ben enjoyed the surfing and I particularly loved the snorkelling as the water was 29 degrees, literally a warm bath. All our flights and transfers ran smoothly so that was appreciated also.

Terry Lace (April 2017)

Perfect Wave are the experienced professionals in travel. They cater for families and non surfers alike. From the first contact they made it all very straightforward for us, taking all the hassle out of our booking. Perfect Wave have done all the research first hand on the destinations they offer. I would definitely book with them for our next holiday!

We had the most fantastic family holiday. Thankyou to Simone and the team at Perfect Wave.

Jessica & Michael (September 2016)
We had an amazing time especially staying in the overwater villa. All the people were super friendly. Neil said it was as flat as it gets but Michael was still able to get head high to over head high waves with the occasional decent barrel. Wish we had longer to explore more of the island.

I'd also like to thank you for organising my birthday flowers and cake.

Thanks for organising an amazing trip

Daniel (September 2016)
Neil the surf guide was awesome He was spot on in the way he slowly introduce me to the waves taking in consideration that I am just a weekend warrior. We started with the easy breaks close to coconuts and then he took me to guillotines where I probably catch the best wave of my live so far.

Kudos to him for understanding my strengths and also my weaknesses but especially his water safety knowledge because the day it was big it was really needed

Aaron (November 2015)
Perfect wave were great and helped us out at the last minute.

Jonathan (October 2015)
Sylvia and the team from Perfect Wave were fantastic and looked after every detail of the trip.

Cameron (October 2015)
Great customer service. We always received quick responses to any emails we sent, and our questions were answered promptly. We always felt that Simone was genuinely interested in organising the best possible deal for our holiday.

Browny (August 2015)
This was a great place to stay, the staff and the local villagers made sure you felt welcome the entire trip. The cultural day held every Saturday was all inclusive and gave you an understanding of the lives of the people in Samoa, their village tour could have been more informative however this might just have been the guide for the day. The you man, I believe his name was Narlu gave me a great snorkel tour of the reef which was a magic way to spend my last day in Samoa, thanks.

Alison (August 2015)
What an amazing holiday, we both enjoyed Coconuts, the people, the surf and Island of Samoa. The final 2 nights in the over water room made the holiday sensational view of the sun setting over the water. Working with Sylvia was an absolute pleasure, everything was well organised with us having doing very little except pack. Would definitely book through the Perfect Wave again.

Alison & Dave (August 2015)
We had an amazing time there, was wonderful, Dave got to know Neil very well going out most mornings surfing with him. was so relaxing and such a beautiful place, meet some great people over there as well (Dave spending time in the water and on the boat helped with that).  Will send through some photos when i get a chance.  1st day back at work today!!!! So sad 🙁  need to start saving for the next one again.

Phil (July 2015)
We wanted a surf trip with great waves for the surfers in my family and comfort and plenty to do for the non surfers too. After talking through many options with Sylv we chose Coconuts Samoa.
Coconuts turned out to be just what we were after. The resort was fantastic, great staff, good food, plenty to do inside the resort and around Samoa for everyone and we got awesome waves. Coconuts is located close to some of the Islands best breaks and having Neil from Manoa Tours based at the resort made it easy,he always got us onto the best waves and crowds were never an issue. Thanks to Sylv for the tip, we're stoked.

Julian (July 2014)

Oh my god. What a trip of a trip.Let's start....Neill....I think I have some man love there. My wife calls it Bromance. What a guy.We had some epic surf. Got cleaned up by 8 foot sets broke 2 leg ropes had some mega ocean swims back to the boat. Got my board back undamaged both times. PhewIn between that we were scoring tube rides that I never would have gone out in without such an excellent guide. My wife was worried it was too heavy but after day 2 she realized I was in such good hands. We were always 1st at the best spot. By the end of the week the boat was full of guys from other resorts. But there was always a spot for me either next to Neill or up front as anchor man.How am I going to write a short review. I haven't even mentioned Coconuts or Samoa. How excellent Thank you for your efforts. We are so chillaxed back home showing the kids our pics. I'm still there.Regards Julian

Browny and Tom (May 2014)

Hi SylvI would like to thank you for all your assistance with organizing our short but wonderful holiday in Samoa.Tom surfed nearly everyday and I relaxed by the pool or walked along the beach. The Coconut Beach Resort was a fantastic place, lovely food, great accommodation and wonderful friendly staff. Thanks again and looking forward to our next adventure somewhere sometime soon.Regards

Mark (September 2013)

The trip was amazing, we had a great time. The resort and the staff were great, would recommend to anyone. The over the water fala was amazing. We even got waves. My first surf was about 3-4 foot with the odd sneaky 6 foot set to catch you out. Then had 2 foot fun waves for the rest of the trip.Definitely a trip to remember.Thanks.Mark

Patty(August 2013)

One of the Best holidays we have had in a long time. Samoa is just wonderful. The Perfect Wave handled the booking and organizing of our holiday to a tee, Sylvia was wonderful with answering all my questions (yes there were a few)... Coconuts Beach Resort was great and peaceful place to stay, the staff were friendly and helpful in all areas. The meal deal was exceptional (food was great), if you weren't on the meal deal I'm sure the food would have worked out much more expensive. The surf for my husband at this time of year was a bit fickle because of the Trade Winds, but he did get some great waves. We will be back next year, for sure... We are in love with Samoa and the people there.

Steve (July 2013)

Finally a travel company that knows what you want in a family / surfing holiday and can book a destination that other travel agents have no knowledge of and are not interested to quote on. Thank you Perfect Wave for arranging our recent family holiday to Samoa. As a keen surfer you were able to answer all my questions. The surf guide at Coconuts (Neil) was fantastic. My family enjoyed the resort while I was surfing. Looking forward to booking with you again. Plan to go to The Maldives next year. Great work guys! Keep it up.

Renee (July 2013)

Kim (April 2011)

Had the best time at Coconuts Resort. Arrived at 5.30AM. Great breakfast then in the surf with Neil (Manoa surf tours) at 8.30AM. 4-5 feet perfect lefts mirror glass ocean Just Neil and me for as long as I could take it. The local surfers were out on the next few surfs, and they were very friendly, waves were shared and there were not always a lot to go around. (3 days good surf out of 6,other days too small) Back at mid day for lunch. The food (especially the Tuna) was world class. Mika (he runs the restaurant) is an American chef and every dish was superb (So many choices!). The local Valima beer is cold and good. My wife and kids loved the pool, the sight seeing, the people. Saturday is cultural exchange day at Coconuts and it is very genuine not just a pantomine for tourists. All the villagers are involved with the resort. No Television was surprisingly OK with my girls 8+12 years, exhausted from the daily adventures.

Drew (January 2011)

All in all it was a great first off venture into surf holidays and more advanced breaks on sharp reefs and lefts!!Samoa is a lovely place and i scored on a deal! I'd be happy to use you again.
