Waidroka Bay Surf & Dive Resort is one of Viti Levu's best-value resorts, and a great place to stay for relax in proximity to world-class surfing, diving and fishing sites.
Surf, dive and fish all day, then watch the sunset over the ocean while enjoying one of the local specialties for dinner. Surfing in Fiji is world class and there is surf year around. The Pacific swells break on the various reef passages right outside the resort and present a variety of uncrowded waves.
The trips to any of local breaks take no longer than 10 minutes. A boat-driver & surf-guide will always be on board for your guidance and safety and they always carry water, fruit and some snacks, as well as VHF and phone for your safety. The trip to Frigates Passage takes approx 45 minutes.
They also offer a large selection of rental surf boards, SUP's and body boards for your convenience.

Deluxe Ocean Front Bures
The Deluxe Ocean Front Bures are located with magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean, with their own little gardens, on-suite bathrooms, two beds (assortment of bed configurations available on request), table and chairs, ceiling fan and large decks with sitting corner and 'hammock chair'.
Panoramic Ocean-View Rooms

The views are exceptional especially at sunrise and sunset.
Normally, in all bedrooms, they can change bedroom configuration and switch between singles and doubles, so that the Deluxe Ocean Front Bures can have either 1 or 2 queens or a queen and 2 singles or 4 singles (this becomes a bit more crowded but they have done it before). The Panoramic Ocean View Rooms normally have a a double and 1 single, or 3 singles and sometimes 4 singles (again this becomes very crowded, but they have done it for groups before).
There is Wi-Fi available in the main building facility. You can pay either 15 FJD per day or if you buy a weekly (7 days) package the cost is 90 FJD.
Surf & Other Activities
in Fiji is world class and there is surf year around. The Pacific
swells break on the various reef passages right outside the resort and
present a variety of uncrowded waves. The surf which is breaking over
reef (reef-breaks) can be challenging at about 5 foot plus for more
inexperienced surfers and surfers need to be competent in surfing these
type of breaks. Utilizing the pacific south swells which break on the
various reefs right outside Waidroka Bay Resort presents a large variety
of un-crowded waves, which break consistently with the southerly
‘SERUA RIGHTS’ - Great long right hander. Mellow take off going into hollow inside section. On medium days this is one of the longest rights Fiji offers. Works at all tides. Waves begins to break on outer reef and peels into deep water. Keep cutting way back inside and stay in the foam. As you head in towards the inside reef (quite shallow) a full reform/peak will start coming straight at you from down the line. Where the boat parks is perfect for barrel photo's.
‘J's’ - a super hollow, fast and barreling right hand wave that breaks from 2’ to 6’. It works best around the high tide with off-shore or cross-offshore winds from NE to W. It likes a bit of west in the swell to run all the way down the reef. It's a fun and fast right hander which gives you the immediate pleasure of being able to 'rail-it' into a barrel and get to overhead size making it a great option for our regular footers looking for barrels!
SHIFTIES - deep water pyramid like take-off. An outside point of the reef picks up all the swell and will pick up more swell than any other break around. It's powerful and thick. When everywhere else has very little swell and waves there will always be a wave at Shifties. It can be surfed at all tides. This is a right hander with a first bottom turn and preferably cut-back straight into the wave once of the pyramid and can produce quite a long run if the wave connects. It can produce very large waves at take-off and has one of the biggest take-off points of all waves Waidroka has to offer.
‘BLACK ROCK’ – a right hand barrel which can be tricky at take-off, but can produce the ride of a lifetime. Best around high tide due to the quite shallow coral reef close to take-off zone. Breaks at the entry of a passage which can pick up large swells.
FRIGATES - World Class and one of the best surf breaks in Fiji - can rival Cloudbreak on a good day and will pick up a couple of more foot in wave height than any of the local breaks due to its location 20 km out to sea. SE Trades are offshore so it is a great choice of wave once local breaks become smaller or are blown out due to trades – Frigates will mostly deliver! Frigate's is a powerful, fast and consistent hollow left. Big barrels, long rides and works at all tides! Most surfers who've had a few sessions at Frigates will come back to Fiji just to surf Frigates again and again. Longest ride 150 m plus with a relatively easy take-off (unless it gets BIGGGG…), with various sections, down to the last inside section with a hollow barrel (drop out at low tide since it gets very shallow). An epic and one of the most fun waves in the Pacific!
PIPE - We also call it mini-Teahupoo ! Peaky Lefthander. Pure Barrels. Experienced Surfers. mid- to high- tide break. The SE Trade winds blow cross-offshore at most times during the winter, which produces super barrels. One of the best surf spots in Fiji for body-boarders. With bigger swells Pipe becomes a challenge and is a late take-off, with a drop straight into a barrel (best to ‘rail it’). It can be approximately 50 m of pure fast barrel. Once you have made the barrels at Pipe any other wave becomes ‘easy’…
‘420’s’ – great left just opposite Serua in the same bay and if Serua turns off-shore 420’s will produce. On a good day it will be a peaky left with a barrel section on the inside. Easy channel to access the wave and great fun.
RESORTS - Fun lefthander. Good surf break for beginners and long boards. Allows surfing at all tides. Resorts can get real big sets with good swell and is a great take-off in deeper water, with a ‘pyramid type’ section which barrels and is fun to get through, after which you have to cut back immediately to stay on the wave. A fun wave!
Fiji’s warm, clear waters and abundance of reef life make the islands a magnet for divers and snorkelers. Visibility regularly exceeds 30m. In terms of visibility the drier months of April to November are more reliable, but in different seasons divers will experience different things and diving is quite good year round. Many travelers take the opportunity to learn scuba diving while in Fiji.
Their special location close to world famous Beqa Lagoon and the amazing variety of local reefs offer an exceptional diving experience. Coral Coast diving offers unexplored diving as well as many world renowned dive sites such as sites in and around Beqa Lagoon. Every dive site has something special or unique to see and dives range from safe and easy to exciting wall dives in fast currents.
The main advantage of diving on the Coral Coast is the proximity of sites to the coast. The inside reefs can be reached by small boat, currents are usually moderate, and you will see good coral and reef fish. To see bigger pelagic fish and spectacular coral, they will take you to dive the outer reefs and passages. The reef surrounding Beqa is considered one of the world’s top diving locations. Beqa Lagoon, a 64-km barrier reef is famous for its dive sites which include Frigates Pass, a 48m wall dive with large pelagic fish including reef sharks; and Caesar’s Rocks with amazing coral heads and swim throughs.
Bay Resort has a full service PADI Dive Shop on site, offering one, two
or three tank dives. Waidroka Dive offers well maintained equipment for
those that prefer to rent their equipment.
They offer dive excursions to dozens of world famous sites along with PADI courses catering to complete beginners through to professional level divers.

In the end thinks went quick and i`m already one week in new zealand! But fiji was pretty good, it started with a long delay of my flight but i arrived just in time for dinner instead of breakfast at waidroka! The stay were very nice, espacially the staff were amacing, i had mostly bad luck with the wave conditions, small and onshore. But just these one day at frigats was perfect and i had a few very very good waves bit over headhigh light off shore and just we were out there! After that week i spend another 5 day on malolo island and surfed glassy cloudbreak 3 days in a row! So in the end it was very good new surfexperience for me and i learned a lot surfing these kind of waves on fiji! Thanks for all nice

Totally seamless. Getting the trip organised could not have been easier.

We got back from Fiji yesterday and we had a great trip. We have nothing but positive feedback on Waidroka Bay Resort, all good. It was all I wanted and more great waves, weather and people. It's hard to put the experience in the water into words and the photos we took really don't capture the power of the waves. We got Frigates at perfect 8 ft (bombs) and another day 5 ft (smaller bombs). We will never forget these 2 days.
Mike (April 2013)
The Perfect Wave recommended the surfing at Waidroka Bay Resort to my mate and I - we spent a week there at Easter 2013 and had a fantastic time.Accommodation, food and service was great - Gill the surf guide was spot on everyday. We got 2 days at Frigates - at 5 and 8 ft. We will never forget those two days - for a lot of good reasons. Other surf spots were Pipes and Jays - all good.Keep an open mind, watch the horizon and pack a longer/thinner board for the big ones - then charge!
Rob (September 2012)
I just got back from a fantastic 7-day surf trip in Fiji. The staff at Waidroka are amazing: well-informed surf guide Gil with lots of energy and passion always taking care that all surfers are well briefed before surfing a new spot friendly Fijian staff that serve delicious home-cooked meals and lastly a friendly management team that are always happy to have a chat.I came by myself and was taken care of by everyone and the unlimited surf option that I chose was worth it: I surfed between 3-5 hours daily depending on tide and wave/weather conditions. Luckily the weather and waves were on my side and I surfed anything from 2-6ft waves five out of seven days of my trip. But even though it was dry season it poured down for the last 1.5 days. The positives: Great surf guide that knows where to go and surfs with you (even mentioned that he would get my board if I lost it!) good food (at breakfast and lunch you can choose what you want and set dinner) good for single experienced surfers as well as for groups great breaks (short barrels to long walls) good for couples too as they offer daily diving and snorkelling option for your better half if she's into it, otherwise get a massage and relax on the pool or on one of the multiple day beds. The negatives: Not much! let me think. Well, the wind can wreck the waves and it's not Bali where it blows offshore all day in the right season but I had no crowds with perfect waves and if you can plan your holiday closer to the actual date it's highly likely that you score perfect waves. Unfortunately, for people that want a sandy beach, the resort has only a rocky beach front and at low-tide there's no water in front of the resort. Best surf conditions: Offshore winds are mainly from the E, NE to the NW. Some spots are sideshore in SE winds as well. S and W winds are onshore. SE swells seem to be less lined up and SW swells with a higher period deliver great walls, but both swell directions work great on the reefs. Surfed a SW and SE swell during my stay. One last thing, Fiji is not for beginners. The breaks are all reefs and you should be at least an intermediate surfer to enjoy yourself.
