Introducing the MV Carpe Vita Explorer, the luxury surf charter boat designed and built for guests that enjoy a full service surf & dive charter. The MV Carpe Vita is a luxury 38m (125 feet) long motor safari yacht with a wooden hull, designed and built by experienced Maldivian boat builders.  Captain & Crew

With 13 crew on board to take care of your every need, this is a truly service-inspired charter boat. Captain Shereef is one of the best captains in the Maldives with 10 years experience navigating the best boats through every atoll in the Maldives, so he has your safety covered. He is supported by his 2nd in charge and they have another 2 boat boys & an onboard engineer looking after every element to run a smooth & trouble free surfari. You have 2 chefs dishing up 3 meals per day of a mix of Asian and Western dishes and they are assisted by a fulltime barman and waiter for evening cocktails and a truly fine dining experience. Each day your cabin is turned over by your own room attendant and fresh towels and sheets are just a request away.

For recreation you have a separate support craft, called a Dhoni. This vessel is a fully equipped surf & dive craft to take you to surf and dive spots while the mother ship is anchored in a safe vantage point. You have another 3 crew on this boat to look after your every need along with another 15 ft dingy to get nice and close to the breaks. For the divers on board you have two experienced dive masters to do dives in between surfs or even a Padi certified dive course for non surfers.

A Perfect Wave surf charter wouldn’t be a surf charter without an experienced surf guide getting you the best waves on offer. On the Carpe Vita you get two guides, a local guide to assist you in the water daily, ensuring you are in the right take off spot; and an experienced Aussie guide to plan and advise on forecasts and cater the surf sessions based on the surfer level and experience. Diving

They normally have 1 or 2 dive guides/instructors on board during the surf trips. Diving is available and need not be booked in advance. Please note that the places good for surf are not always the best for diving.

As for courses, they offer the DSD, which is the discovery dive equivalent to the first lesson of your open water PADI course. The open-water PADI certification however takes more time and has skills classes in shallow water and 4 open water dives before you get certified. There is a shorter course which allows you only to dive till 12 meters and under guidance but they normally don’t recommend it.

You can use the snorkelling equipment on board without problems.

Fishing

Fishing in the Maldives is done by hand line only, even for bigger fish. They provide hand-fishing lines and weights and bait fish, so that you can have a go - Maldivian style. If you would like to do throlling or if you bring your own rods and want to go on separate fishing trips, there will be an extra charge.

Internet Access

You can add the global roaming option to your current plan but make sure you’re aware of the costs involved with your provider, otherwise the cheapest option is to just grab a SIM from one of the local providers which can be purchased at the airport once you have cleared customs, or at a local village during your trip.

*If your surf trip involves a Maldives domestic flight: The Perfect Wave cannot be held responsible for your surfboards arriving late (on the next domestic flight). If this happens, it’s due to weight restrictions on Maldivian domestic flights, which is out of our control.

Renata (August 2016)
My partner and I just came back from a Paradise on Earth called Maldives! One week on the charter boat Carpe Vita and One week at Kandooma Resort. What an experience! You can't get any better! Carpe Vita is a dream boat charter: extremely comfortable, very tasty food, spa on the top floor, kindly and professional crew. My partner surfed different waves everyday, Cokes, Sultans, Chickens... The surf is great there! Meanwhile I was surrounded by dolphins, going to swim and visiting the islands. After the Carpe Vita trip in North Male we went to Kandooma Resort in South Male... The swell came and my partner surfed 3 different surf breaks, but he was in love for the Kandooma one, just right in front of the rooms! I had so much fun there and could use the Perfect Waves Surf centre to take surf classes with very professional instructors. Perfect Waves just got 2 new customers & we strong recommend their services as the best we have ever had. We are really delighted by the experience! Thank you so much Perfect Waves crew! You guys are legend 🙂

Rick (August 2016)
The Carpe Vita luxury boat in the Maldives has been on my bucket list for a long time, and TPW made it happen. The experience was even better than the fantasy!

Rick (May 2016)
Thank you for such a wonderful trip.  Your company The Perfect Wave (Maldives) is such a professional outfit.  Everything provided was first class.  It definitely exceed all my expectations.  I can assure you that I will recommend you to others.  Hope to see you again sometime. Cheers … Rick

Deb and Mark (September 2015)
We are from the Gold Coast in QLD and were very lucky to have been thrown together with a great group from Manly in Sydney, from Brisbane and from the central NSW coast. Fourteen in all, a great size for the boat.
When setting of on the surfing trip of a lifetime, you are in the very competent hands of a local captain, (thanks Adam), who has exceptional local knowledge. We were fortunate to have Bob, an Aussie, as one of the surfing guides on our trip as well as Unco, a Maldivian. They ensured that the surfers amongst us got the best waves each day, that they were first out (most days) and were safe. The Carpe Vita has its own dhoni and crew and a dinghy for ease of getting in and out of the surfing areas, and they do an amazing job. Thanks guys!
For those non-surfers in the group, we could snorkel, swim, lay in the sun, watch all the surfing action or read a book. There was as much or as little to do as we wanted. A real holiday!
The meals on the boat were terrific. Chef Chandana and his assistant Akram, created 3 amazing buffets per day, all very fresh and all very different. I don't know how they do it, but we were sure glad they did! Thanks guys!
Ajantha and Sanjay were our barmen and dinner waiters. They were like ninjas removing and replacing cups, plates and cutlery before you even knew you needed them. They were friendly, happy and became like family by the end of our week. Rofej was our cabin person and he did an amazing job cleaning. turning our bed down and keeping our room on the boat comfortable. Thanks Rofej! Thanks to everyone else, too, who made our week on the Crape Vita exceptional. Thanks Perfect Wave for making the surfing charter possible. We had so much fun, we'll definitely be back!

Mark (September 2015)
I cannot speak highly enough of my fantastic experience with Perfect Wave on the Carpe Vita and at Kandooma. This was a surfing holiday for me, organised by my wife with the help of Charlie Pierce, and it all came together perfectly.
The crew and facilities on board the Carpe Vita were fabulous and the breaks we went to were always the best for the conditions. Everything runs like a dream on the CV. All crew are very accommodating, friendly and helpful.
Deb organised a beach house on the break at Kandooma and it was the perfect location. Once again, the facilities, the staff and the surfing were all amazing. I was impressed with cleanliness and service both on the boat and at thr resort. Everything was immaculate.
I honestly thought I had died and gone to heaven. This will go down as one of the best trips I've ever had and I am telling everyone who'll listen all about it.

Mark and Deb(September 2015)
Everything about the Carpe Vita and our 7 nights on board was sensational. It is a 'huge', modern, well maintained, (great job Ibbi), comfortable vessel, and we felt safe at all times.

Agnes runs a tight ship and the 13 crew are very efficient at their roles and they do them happily and unobtrusively.

Murray (August 2015)
On our trip we surfed 6 to 8 hours in 2-5ft perfect waves, in 27 degree water each of our 7 days aboard Carpe Vita. It was a dream. Count speak more highly about the quality of board and the staff.

Craig (August 2015)
Life on board the Carpe Vita was awesome! The comfort factor is through the roof and the crew went out of their way to make sure that you are looked after 24/7. The waves delivered every single day with our surf guide Bob making sure we were always in the right place at the right times.

Pat (August 2015)
Carpe Vita was like stepping into a 70s Bond film set on the French Riviera with Doctor Evil.  I caught myself doing a silent chuckle whilst sipping cocktails in the top deck chilled spa on sunset as the 13 staff catered  to my every whim -  this is no Ments converted fishing trawler. It’s quite simply the best small ship / boat I’ve been on and it gives you access to some of the great marine wonders of the world on a seamless daily basis. Nothing was to much for the crew and captain -  particularly liked the bbq dinner they set up for us all on dusk on a deserted tropical island beach, complete with dulcet surf tunes, bomb fire statue, grilled jump prawns and hermit crab races - farking heaven.

Tracey (July 2015)
An absolutely wonderful experience, the vessel was superb, rooms were lovely, the food was outstanding but most importantly Brian James our surf guide found surf when there wasn't much swell. The guys got a tonne of waves and were very happy. Anka the boat boy was so friendly, diligent and on top of everything, however the other boat boys could definitely do with improving their interest levels. Compliments to the chef (I bought his cookbook) and the captain. I believe there was a lot of value added in having Bob (McTavish) on the trip also, he is a legend and made the trip for us handing out prizes every night and getting everyone involved in everything. A wonderful honeymoon for us, a wonderful group of people on the boat, thank you, we look forward to trips in the future with Perfect Wave.

Rosario (July 2015)
Nothing but praise. Thanks Marie. All I had to do was get on the plane and I had such a great time. Fantastic people, good food, great surf, amazing boat and hard working crew looking after us. Could not have scripted it better. I felt very welcome and comfortable. Bob was a wonderful host and Brian made sure that there were waves for everyone. Thank you.

Rosario (July 2015)
I had the most wonderful time and caught what was for me some of the most awesome waves. Brian made sure that everyone was catered for. He was great and knew his stuff.
Bob, what can I say about Bob? Humble, caring, considerate, very funny, great story teller, awesome surfer, down to earth, lovely man. Everyone else were great people too! We all just got on so easily.
I felt very welcome, relaxed and comfortable. I could go on and on about the boat, the food, snorkelling, surf and great company. We even had a few singalongs which were so fun! Brian recorded some which are pretty funny.
Please let me know when next year’s is on. I would love to do that all again.
Thanks again for organising everything. It made it so easy.

Ryan (May 2014)

I cannot speak highly enough of the service from the Perfect Wave and the crew on the Carpe Vita. The trip was amazing great surf, good food and fantastic company will definitely be coming back!!

Aldo (May 2014)

The Carpe Vita and Barton Lynch one of the true professionals recognized not only for his surfing but his ability to articulate provides an outstanding opportunity to enjoy one of the most comfortable roomy boats cruising any surf destination.

Ian Davidson (September 2013)

I booked a trip on the Carpe Vita cruising the Central & Southern Atolls, my experience is one I will not forget in a long while. Firstly I was met at airport by reps from the Perfect Wave, transferred to our home for the next 8 days, the Carpe Vita is everything and more. The staff from the cabin boys to the skipper were excellent, they went out of their way to make everybody feel at home, there wasn't anything they wouldn't do. The surf guide Brian, what a legend and he backed up by Unko (hope the spellings right) a local guy who knew his stuff. The food was copious and excellent ranging from local dishes to fresh sashimi and some western dishes. The surf was fantastic ranging from 3-4ft at the beginning and finishing with barrelling 5-6ft. This trip was more than I expected, thank you Perfect Wave for the most awesome trip an old cripple can remember.

Christophe (September 2013)

I had a great trip on board of the carpe vita on a trip trough Centrall atolls in Maldives .After a short briefing on arrival we immediatly left port on our way for a first surf session of an 8 day trip.staff on board was very friendly and we only had to ask for something and they would see what they could do to arrange our days , from what time we would be surfing one spot before leaving to another or for doing other activities like snorkeling , fishing or visiting local Island villages .they always made sure we had the option to choose between a few different surfspots and with the support of a smaller boat and another small boat to bring us around was good arranged , When it came to food , we also had choices between different dishes so there would Always be something suiting your taste and never anything to short , and we all know after long hours in the surf we all become hungry .so Carpe vita is a great boat to stay on and i surely enjoyed my week on board and would recomend staying on this boat to anyone going to Maldives in search of waves . Thanks to a great service from the perfect wave

Mitch (August 2013)

Carpe Vita was incredible, it totally blew my expectations away! It is so massive, luxurious and even the standard cabins were extremely comfortable. Brian was really awesome, his knowledge of the area and his understanding of our needs meant we were in the best place at the best time! His laid back, Aussie nature meant he easy bonded with everyone in our group. We were a mix of surfers and divers so everyone’s expectations were satisfied. We were lucky to score good swell and winds for the whole trip, and Brian’s contacts and knowledge of the area meant we had some sessions to ourselves. The crew were great, AJ (barman) and Anko (Maldivian surf guide) went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. The food was excellent, especially the Sri Lankan cuisine options which gave us a taste of the local culture. Once again, thanks for all your efforts in organising our trip while pregnant and on maternity leave. Maldives is blessed with so many really good waves within a small area, we will be sure to re-book the boat in the future.

Bryan (August 2013)

Best surfing holiday ever!

Mitch (July 2013)

Maldives is blessed with so many really good waves within a small area, we will be sure to rebook the boat in the future.

Adrian (May 2013)

The best trip I have ever been on.Everyone on the boat were great fun loving people and extremely friendly. I took my 9 year old with me and had some trepidation but i needn't have worried. Every one on the boat made him especially welcome and looked out for him and the wave conditions that were described to us were spot on. He easily held his own in the conditions to the point that he sometimes surfed without me and i knew that staff and other guests were keeping a close eye on him. We will definitely book another trip next year or the one after with the Perfect Wave.

Jade (May 2013)

Perfect Wave are a fantastic team to help with all needs even when I miss my flight! Everyone one just comes to help with all the knowledge and experience, kindness and support. Carpe Vita is a beautiful luxury boat the service and accommodation is so amazing. I often just got up and went out to a surf break and was the only one surfing it. So cool. Best memories. I could have stayed so much longer. thank you!

Great trip. Barton and Holly put a massive effort in and were extremely generous with their time, experience and enthusiasm. Complemented by Brian our guide. A really nice helpful guy and a great ambassador for perfect wave. This is my 2nd Perfect Wave trip and would love to go on another with Barton in the future. Learnt heaps.StokedNick

G'day Jamie and Matt Insane trip. Stoked, stoked, stoked. It was a great trip with Brian taking us to all the right spots around the Maldives.Super fun conditions day after day. And brilliant to have it professionally photographed and even video – more stoked!! Barton and Holly Lynch then turned a great trip into an epic adventure. The best Suzie and I have ever had.Holly's yoga each day - my wife and I both loved getting recharged with this.BL's decades of wisdom combined with infectious energy that would put any grom to shame. We still can't believe how good it was and how lucky we were to share it all with a great bunch of people. I wrote a little "thank you" on the last day to give to BL and Holly and the whole crew. They suggested I pass is on - attached. Not sure if you can find any use. Thanks again guys and keep me posted on future adventures.Andy

From the moment the speedboat picked us up to when we landed back in Singapore, we were in HEAVEN!The boat looked good in the photos and was all we had dreamed of for the last 12 months.. but to see it (and it's 2 other boats) in all their real life glory was amazing.. and to think we were going to call this boat home for the next 7 nights was unbelievable.! You couldn't contain any of our parties glee! The boat sure lived up to its name.. Carpe Vita- and that is exactly what we did.. all day and every day.. she had all the expert knowledge, equipment and personnel to achieve this. Jacuzzi, dive gear, snorkel gear, fishing gear, wine, cocktails, baths, king-sized beds, ensuite luxurious bathrooms.. and that's not even mentioning the surf! The surf guide was brilliant- problem solving, maintaining a good rapport with each guest, accommodating their every whim (or surf) need! We scored uncrowded waves at each place and he coordinated it perfectly so everyone of our 13 guests was made to feel special and included.

My trip on the Carpe Vita was awesome and despite the luxury reasonably priced. We were well looked after and wanted for nothing.I can't wait to go on my next surf trip.

I found the whole surf trip/experience excellent the boat (Carpe Vita) was beyond my expectations and the staff could not be more helpful.
