Hotel Alp can be summed up in three words: convenience, comfort and style. The hotel has a brilliant location in the ski village of Akakura, where getting on the slopes is as easy as walking out the front door. Ski in and ski out is great, but Alp goes even further, with easy transport access to most of Akakura’s other major ski areas easy to reach from the front door. There’s also plenty of great bars, restaurants and attractions like hot springs nearby, making Alp a great choice for anyone looking for a great location. Wifi is also available on site.

The Hotel Alp in Myoko is an excellent choice for a vacation in the heart of Japan's snow country. Guests literally step out the door to start skiing; at the end of the day, they can slide right up to the front door!

In the evening, too, the Hotel Alp is ideally located to enjoy the restaurants and nightlife in Akakura. Everything is less than 10 minutes’ walk away—and there’s great Japanese and Western cuisine just a few steps away.

And, if you just feel like staying at the hotel for dinner, their chef is ready to prepare a sumptuous meal (just be sure to let them know a little in advance if you do choose to stay on a bed-and-breakfast basis).

The Hotel Alp has an inviting look from the outside, built in the style of Myoko’s sister city, Zermatt, Switzerland. Inside, though, you’ll find traditional Japanese hospitality, and comfortable western and Japanese rooms.

After a day on the slopes, enjoy a relaxing soak in the hotel's on site natural onsen hot spring, with water drawn from a source high on Mount Myoko's north side. Come down to the lobby for a drink, make use of the free WiFi connection—in short, it's a great place to kick back after a day of skiing!

The Hotel Alp is more than just a convenient location. It’s one of the youngest hotels in the area, with attractive, spacious rooms and a sparkling, modern interior. It's easy to feel right at home, whether visiting for a weekend, or for an extended stay.

Most of their rooms are western style, including standard raised beds. Many guests, however, have enjoyed the chance to stay in a tatami (traditional woven straw) mat Japanese room. These Japanese style rooms offer the opportunity to sleep on futons, have a relaxing cup of green tea and enjoy the subtle fragrance of the tatami—also a great (and spacious) choice for family groups of up to four.

And if you want a little more room, and the chance to enjoy the best of both Western and Japanese, they also have a very affordable junior suite room. This room is apparently quite popular, so it's probably worth booking in advance.

Hotel Alp is pretty easy to find, and can be accessed by public or private transport. The hotel is located right on the slopes of the Akakura Onsen Ski Area, just above the Chuo lift that provides easy access to the rest of the huge Akakura area. They're only about 10 minutes by taxi from the main train station. Buses do run regularly from the Myokokogen station in the city to the Akakura village (and often synchronized to arriving train), but can be a little tight if you have a lot of gear).

Surf & Other Activities

Akakura is primarily geared towards skiers and snow boarders, and Hotel Alp is well placed for these winter sportspeople. The hotel is ski in, ski out, meaning it can't get any easier to get on the snow. After a day of skiing, be sure to try out the hotel's on site hot springs, known in Japanese as onsen. These onsen are supplied with water from Mount Myoko, and are an absolute delight after a day in the snow.

In summer, Myoko becomes one of Japan's better hiking regions, with decent trails in the surrounding countryside. So if you're coming outside of winter, don't forget your hiking boots!
