When it comes to providing a luxurious and contemporary twist on the classic Californian surf getaway, this oceanfront resort ticks all the boxes. Picture miles of golden-sand and a world famous boardwalk stretching from your doorstep.
Fun waves are just a stone’s throw away, and breathtaking views of the sun setting over the pacific, while a range of activities from surfing to cycling will keep the whole family happy from dusk till dawn.
Huntington Beach has some of the most consistent surf on the west coast, offering fun and peaky waves during the winter, which many locals agree is the best time of year to surf if you don’t mind putting up with cooler water.
During summer the waves can be less consistent, with prevailing south or westerly winds kicking in at around mid-morning to lunchtime. But if you’re willing to get up for the early, there’s still super fun days to be had.
Between late July and August Huntington plays host to the world’s largest surf comp and lifestyle festival, the US Open of Surfing.
Join in on the action or escape the crowds by taking a stroll to one of the many banks along the long stretch.
The infamous HB Pier is within easy reach, about one and a half kilometres away from the resort. While other breaks like Trestles, Blacks Beach and San Clemente are within reasonable driving distance.
Waves in Southern-California can range from average to epic depending on wind and swell direction. But a variety of options means there’s room for all surfing abilities, and the resort will help you arrange a surfing lesson with Toes on the Nose surf school if you’d like to get on a board for the first time. They also offer private and semi-private lessons and board and wetsuit rental.
Rest-assured there’s also plenty to keep non-surfers and rest of the family entertained well beyond the beach. Enjoy a romantic dinner at one of the resort’s award-winning restaurants, or roast marshmallows with the kids under a starry sky at an outdoor fire pits. Treat yourself to a pampering session at the mediterranean style Pacific Waters Spa, which prides itself on using organic products and purified sea water. Or take a long cycle along the beach as the orange sun melts over the sea at the end of the day. A large outdoor pool is surrounded by sun decks and beautiful views of the ocean, with the benefit of three much-loved water slides for the little ones.
The hotel concierge is happy to organise day trips to nearby locations like Disneyland, Knot’s Berry Farm and the Aquarium of the Pacific, and a free shuttle bus runs to the Pier or downtown Huntington Beach for most of the day.

“We have visited this resort on two occasions, and we are amazed how well we were treated. I would come back here in a heart beat. In fact, we are planning a week stay here next year. It is the perfect place to just relax and enjoy the beach. The morning we left, I sat on our patio and watched the waves for over an hour. The rooms are well appointed and the staff is first class.”
