Just checked the surf report as I do almost every day (even in the offseason) and its going to be an amazing week for waves this week. The season for waves in PNG has begun and this year it’s an El Niño. The last time we experienced this was around five years ago. More south east trades were experienced  than the usual north west but the swells were a lot bigger and much more frequent.

So there’s insane waves coming up this week, the PNG Explorer is being pulled out of the water tomorrow morning for a scrub and paint and I can’t go anywhere!

This year on PNG Explorer expect endless hot showers with the new de-salinator, professional photo packages plus a lot of rebuilds to make the old girl even more reliable and bullet proof. The aft deck has been opened up more, the anchor system totally rebuilt, Store room has had a full gut and refit so the galley staff will be even more efficient. Plus this year we welcome an our new surf guide and professional surf photographer, Chris Peel. Chris will be there armed and ready with an arsenal of imagery equipment to capture your best waves and fun times.

PNG Explorer has a one to one crew to guest ratio, two slick alloy tenders, ski for a personalised surf drop-off and pick-up, fully qualified chefs, beer on ICE, all the game fishing gear and fun equipment to keep you amused when your chilling out.

There is dates still available so get cracking, lock in your spot and we will see you very soon!

Cheers from your captain

Andrew Rigby
