The Perfect Wave recently had the pleasure of welcoming aboard the Surf Sojourn two of the UK’s happiest and funniest surfers, Hannah Bristow and Dannie “MacLegend” MacClennan, accompanied by Sara Taylor their BFF from California to take advantage of some solid swell in the world-famous Male Atolls.

The Brits are the producers, directors, camera operators and stars of the Kelly Says Surf video series. When they’re not working their day jobs, they can usually be found travelling around the UK surfing sub-par waves in freezing temperatures, all the while “living by the law of the bald wizard”, 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater: “Surf no matter what.” Wherever they go, they’re always the best surfers in the line-up, because they’re always the ones having the most fun!

This time around, far from the rainy summer surf in Newquay, the Maldives delivered the trip of their dreams: tropical islands, bright sunshine, perfect, overhead barrels, and bathtub warm, turquoise blue water.

As you can see below in their latest episode, they scored some serious tube time (Sara did anyway), and they had an awesome time in and out of the water.

Here’s what they had to say about their experience in the Maldives with the crew on the Surf Sojourn.

Dannie:

I loved every second of our stay on the Surf Sojourn. The whole experience was the trip of a lifetime! We got to surf so many incredible waves, explore beautiful islands and chill out in the most amazing weather. The surf guides and crew were fantastic – so friendly and helpful – and the food was absolutely delicious. What more could you want?!? 11/10, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or do it again.

Hannah:

This was my first ever boat trip and I had no idea what to expect, but it honestly exceeded all my expectations! I got my sea legs pretty fast, and then didn’t want to come back to land! The people are some of the friendliest in the world and the crew on board the Surf Sojourn couldn’t have been more helpful. Due to medical conditions I have quite a strict diet (vegan) and I don’t remember the last time I ate so well! Every meal was so varied and the chef was just incredible. Not only were the waves just mind blowing but the Maldivian waters are some of the clearest I’ve ever seen. Tropical islands, perfect waves and friendly people… Take me back!

Sara:

The Surf Sojourn was rad. We got to surf so many different waves in the warmest clearest water I’ve ever been in. Besides being taxied from point break to point break every day (life’s hard), we were well fed and taken care of by the amazing crew.
