Kandooma Right is arguably the closest wave to land based accommodation in the surfing world. It certainly is the closest break to accommodation I can think of! You literally fall out the door of your slick beach villa on the point, walk 10 metres to the staircase and paddle straight out, hopefully into a set that runs down the entire length of the reef.

Admittedly, Kandooma misses some of the Sth swell action that hits the ever popular North Male breaks, but when it’s on, it is on, and it is never crowded because surfer numbers are strictly limited by The Perfect Wave.

I have only had the pleasure of surfing and holidaying at Kandooma twice to date: My first trip being during the first week of September in 2015 when Tex Perkins and Murray Patterson played “Surf Music In Paradise” and then in September 2017 again, for Music in Paradise week featuring Jimmy Barnes. On both occasions there were fun, surfable waves every day in the 2 to 4ft range, and in both instances there was a swell of consequence the week preceding my trips.
In fact, in August 2017, Kandooma pumped for weeks on end.

Generally speaking, Kandooma is more fun than thump, perfect for a relaxing family/surfing holiday. Easy like Sunday morning!
