Final day highlights

.

The beaches of Hossegor in the southwest of France served up some great surf over the last 72 hours, allowing the World Surf League to run the entirety of the Quiksilver Pro France and the semi-finals and finals of the Roxy Pro France with breaks in action only for nightfall, allowing the competitors to recharge and the tens of thousands of spectators on hand to quaff a few beers and drink the odd glass of red wine.
.

Day 2 highlights

.

As is often the case in France the cream rises to the top, and veteran competitors, past world and event champions, as well as a few local wildcards were the surfers to watch. Representing the home team with an event wildcard, Marc Lacomare made the quarterfinals, and the usual WSL suspects like Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson amongst the standouts throughout the event.
.

Men’s Semi-final 2

.

Hats off to all of the finalists, runner-up Hawaiian Sebastian Zietz and repeat event winner from Brazil Gabriel Medina on the men’s side, and Californian Lakey Peterson and event winner from Hawaii Carissa Moore for the women. As is often the case in France in Autumn Mother Nature delivered the goods and the world’s best surfers reaped the rewards in the world’s best beach breaks.
