Report Mid September 2010

Hi Crew
We just had Seb arrive at Macas Resort to get some shots of guests and to get some footage of the surf over September / October. Here is what he had to say about his first week at Macas Resort… plus some shots of the surf over the past week: The Macaronis wave has been amazing since we have arrived here. After traveling around Indo for a while, I can say it’s probably one of the best lefts in Indo and the whole world for that matter, not just because it’s almost always perfect, but it’s always working, doesn’t matter about the conditions. You can surf Macas every day, every tide, every wind, and that is what you want…. A perfect wave always on the doorstep.

The group of guests visiting were comprised of Melbourne guys Joel, Matt and Tony, and Gold coast charger Dan, Tom from California, Ed from New Zeland, the Hawaiians Fabian, Josh and Brian, and Richard, an experienced South African Knee boarder. Since we arrived (last Wednesday) we have been surfing perfect, solid 4 foot and glassy conditions, especially the first 3 days. Also, like we had heard, with really small crowds, no more than 2 boats in the bay at a time. So we have been catching lots of waves per session. Nick and Harold, the resort surf guides, showed us the spot charging some sick barrels from the first day. Harold took us to Rags Right on a half-day trip on Friday, a very special break that works with rare conditions. He was really confident that it was breaking properly. When we arrived we couldn’t believe it. The wave was super hollow and perfect, maybe more than HT`s, and there were 4 guys out, unbelievable….

Last Saturday was solid, with some pro junior surfers from Australia and Hawaii surfing at macas. Was amazing to see some sick new generation tricks, like rodeos and crazy airs. Our guests with more classic and soul style scored some very nice barrels and powerful turns the same day.

We are all very happy with the resort services. Especially the incredible food, the good vibes of the surf guides, staff and speedboats drivers, Ronny and Hendrix and the free wireless internet, drinks from the bar and massages from mama…. something you really need after some intense surf session at macas.
After every magic sunset we are usually visited by boat charter guests. The guys on boats have been enjoying it a lot as well, having beers and enjoying the vibe with the staff and resort guests in the café / bar, also surfing the Internet and checking out the villas for a future trip. Since yesterday, all the boats are gone, so the waves have been for us. The wind has changed to a light onshore and the swell has dropped down a little, but still some nice sets every 5 to 8 minutes. We are all alone, so lots of waves to go around. We are expecting some epic waves soon, a good ground swell is on the horizon…… Be back with another report bit later….. enjoy the photos.

Cheers
Seba @ macas
