.

LOST MAYHEM | PUDDLE FISH
.

RRP: $899
.

DIMENSIONS: 5’4 x 20 1/4 x 2 3/8 = 20.5L
.

FEATURES: A small wave inspired design from the amazing Puddle Jumper, one of the best small wave boards on the market. It’s redesigned with a slightly different outline that is straighter in the tail to give lots of drive with an inverted swallowtail.
.

It has single channel to give more speed than it’s predecessor.
.

It is a flat-line, fast design for moving down flat sections with more control than a fish with the channels and straight rail line. It will work well in rail-to-rail transition.
.

The wide point is further forward than the Puddle Jumper good for driving off your front foot.
.

It has a Carbon Wrap making it much stronger than a regular board and it’s very well made.
.

This is perfect for the quiver anywhere. Make sure you take it out when it’s bigger too.
.

TAKE IT TO: Bali, Indonesia

.

JYE BYRNES | THE ANCHOVY
.

RRP: $1099
.

DIMENSIONS: 5’8 x 20 1/4 x 2 3/8
.

FEATURES: Retro inspired fish. It’s a classic fish outline.
.

It is a specially designed quad fin template for smooth drive.
.

It features a three-phase bottom contour; a very flat rocker and deep single concave through the middle to a double in the tail. This allows more bottom curve in the board by keeping the rail line straight for lots of speed and drive.
.

It has a specialised split keel quad fins. They hold into the wave so you don’t slide out as well as proving a lot of acceleration and drive especially when the waves are fat and not too good.
.

Best suited for waves 1-5ft. It’s going to be very versatile in small to mid-size days.
.

TAKE IT TO: The Maldives

.

CHILLI SURFBOARDS | BLACK VULTURE
.

RRP: $885
.

DIMENSIONS: 5’9 x 19 3/4 x 2 7/16 = 30L
.

FEATURES: A redesign of the Rare Bird but with a double-winged swallowtail. No curve in the roundtail you get more drive than speed.
.

Deep single concave running all the way through to a subtle vee in the tail.
.

The wide point is far up so it’s easy to paddle into the wave with speed on the takeoff. It is also really good for front foot acceleration.
.

Easy to ride, quick off the mark and goes just as good as a thruster, quad or with a twin with stabiliser.
.

TAKE IT TO: P-Pass, Micronesia
.

.

PYZEL | RADIUS
.

RRP: $875
.

DIMENSIONS: 6’1 x 19 1/2 x 2 1/2 = 29.8L
.

FEATURES: This is the Stab in the Dark winner as picked by Jordy Smith. It’s Pyzel’s brand new model as inspired by John John Florence.
.

It’s a high-performance shortboard with continuous rocker all the way through the board with a slight single concave and a little hip in the tail to allow it to pivot quickly.
.

The single concave isn’t deep but there’s a slight double concave through the tail to stop it being a bit sticky.
.

TAKE IT TO: The Mentawais
.

.

SUPER BRAND | TAZER
.

RRP: $820
.

DIMENSIONS: 5’8 x 19 7/8 x 2 1/2 = 29L
.

FEATURES: The outline is modern and full. A hybrid, high-performance, semi-fish with a swallowtail.
.

It has a medium entry rocker with low tail rocker means quick off the mark and good paddling with the forward volume.
.

It’s a single concave to a double concave to a vee bottom for great fast rail-to-rail transition and good release.
.

It’s fast for huge carves and aerials. This design is popular with shapers now as the modern/new school shape. Good surfers can ride this board absolutely anywhere.
.

With a 5-fin setup, it can be ridden as a thruster or quad in 1-5ft waves but will perform best in 1-2ft.
.

TAKE IT TO: Fiji
.

.

KNOGG | NUU
.

RRP: $795
.

DIMENSIONS: 6’0 x 21 ¼ x 29/16 = 36.1L
.

FEATURES: Made by Surftech Surfboards, the specialists of EPS Core and Epoxy resins. This is a 70s inspired egg shape with a flip nose and a diamond tail. Recommended for 1-4ft waves.
.

It has a soft, fuller rail stopping it from catching, very forgiving.
.

It has a deep double concave that goes into a vee bottom.
.

Has a 2 + 1 set up so can be ridden as a single fin with stabilisers or a twin.
.

The single fin allows you to go over on rail more but won’t have the stability of the side fins.
.

The EPS foam means that it will paddle really well and is an excellent all-rounder and groveller. It’s also super strong with good flex.
.

TAKE IT TO: Macaronis
.

.

CHANNEL ISLANDS | OG FLYER
.

RRP: $875
.

DIMENSIONS: 5’8 x 18 3/4 x 2 5/16 = 26.7L
.

FEATURES: The Channel Islands Flyer was the best selling board of all time so this has got some credibility in its re-design.
.

This is an all-round board with single to double concave and a small vee into the tail for the release making it quick off the lip and into the turns.
.

Single concave gives a lot of speed and the double concave gives the nice rail-to-rail transition and the vee in the tail is quick off the turns.
.

It has a beak in the nose, a little flatter than normal.
.

Will do best as an everyday board in everyday conditions.
.

TAKE IT TO: Papua New Guinea
