Maldives Surf Report: Words and photos by Bob Fawcett.

Jake the Swine Hund master

If you never ever go, you’ll never ever know that the Maldives is the complete package.

Being on a Maldives surf charter provides the mobility to the many and varied reef passes between the 1,200 atolls.

During July we covered the Central Atolls to hook up with a fresh south west swell pulse before heading north to catch a long range solid south east swell that was forecast well in advance.

We even had a surf with Bob McTavish, who was floating by on his Carpe Vita trip with The Perfect Wave.

When Bob wasn’t chasing tubes, he was happy to sit and chat. Such a friendly guy to be with in the lineup and makes pretty good sticks too. Absolute legend.

Shifting winds gave us the options of lefts or rights and we mixed it up depending on preference, ability, currents and tides.

We surfed twelve different breaks over a couple of weeks ranging from great fun to medium size perfection to well overhead and down the line barrels.

What more could you want?
