Kandooma surf report: words By Ben Horvath | Photos by Rob Underwood

Kandooma Surf Resort enjoyed one of the best weeks of waves during the 2015 season last week.

A solid, persistent SE swell peaked in the Maldives last Thursday August 13.

Kandooma Surf Guide Rob “Undies” Underwood said, “The swell was 1.5 m @ 12 second intervals from the  south east. The swell hung around for 4 days peaking on being Thursday August 13. Kandooma Right really came into its own on the low tide, offering long walls with 2 perfect, mechanical barrel sections. The best thing was, the most crowded it got was when I shared it with 4 other guys. Most of the time I was surfing with 1 or 2 others. It was insane!”

Swellnet surf forecaster Graig Brokensha said, “The swell source was a strong, stationary ridge of high pressure that developed well south of Sumatra early last week, while a broad area of low pressure on its northern flank  produced a wide and elongated fetch of E/SE trades, spanning from Madagascar to just south of Java.”

There’s still a couple months of the Maldives surf season left to go, so head on over if you can.

The Perfect Wave have a bunch of epic special events coming up in September and October that make it all the more enticing too.

There’s still tickets left for Tex Perkins’s 3 x shows in 7 days this September 6-13

The big news is Occy and his boy Jay are also hosting a unique” Legends “ fans trip this Oct 11-18. Come surf, hang out and chill with Occy and Jay.

Finally, 5 time Australian Surfing Champion Mark Richardson is hosting a week of surf coaching at Kandooma from Sept 26 to Oct 3.
