Here’s the report from 27 March 2014:

Always nice to wake up to that telltale ‘whump’ sound coming in from the ocean, and standing on the deck it was clear that the leading edge of the swell had arrived overnight. At last!

We smashed some breakfast, loaded up the boat and headed around the corner to check Max’s Left, which was looking good but – Shock! Horror! – charter boat had its occupants out in the lineup. So with no hesitation we drove straight past and headed to Pinnacles.

Pinnacles is a real swell magnet and we arrived to find it pumping, four-to-six feet and glassy. We dropped anchor and got stuck in. If anything, the swell kicked in more during our session. Gotta love it when that happens.

By the time the wind hit from the south we were all surfed out and happy to bail home for lunch.

The afternoon session was held at Max’s left: two-to-four foot surf and moderately clean. Our friends from the charter were still loitering so we happily hung in the channel and took turns with ’em. All good.

It was a fun day of surfing and we expect even more swell tomorrow. See you then!
