G’day fellow frothers,

believe or not, you don’t need to go to Mentawai in July-August and share the waves with considerably higher number of surfers, to score some Ments perfection. If you are an intermediate surfer that doesn’t look for double-overhead waves such as HT’s on its big day, early and late season Mentawai trips are what you want to look for. There are 3 reasons for that:

• user-friendly waves,

• non-existent crowds,

• much lower prices for boats charters – you can save anywhere between $500-1,000 per person. And sometimes even more, just make sure you keep an eye on our Specials page for last-minute charters, if you are flexible.

Big thanks to our good friends from Tengirri, top-quality Mentawai chater, for the following photo and video report. Tengirri has just returned from her maiden voyage for 2012. All round a great trip to kick off the year with varying wind conditions and two medium swells rolling through, they got around just about the whole Mentawai chain and fluked into some great early season waves.
